I'm sorry Blue Ice.. I'm not a good explainer I tried and failed.. couldn't explain to you that Kanyadaan is not about "kanya" and "daan" it has an auspicious story behind it. Kanya isn't paraya dhan but is the Lakshmi of the house. Making judgments without understanding the entire context of Kanyadaan or as a matter of fact on any subject, speaks about how we are failing to have a rational discussion.

The fault is on us and how society progressed(not really) and how we are so destroyed that we see the fault in a ritual when it's us who have been corrupted.

But the society around you is the same as the society around every other person and that society is going to call you an exceptional son-in-law/husband but won’t say anything if you don’t want to take care of your in-laws.
