What the hell did I watch?

Hi all, I am not new to the forum but I have been a silent reader. Today's episode was all sorts of regressive and I just couldn't stop myself from voicing out how frustrating it is to see such stereotypes perpetuated.

1) Why the hell does Anupama have to justify her actions when Kavya asks her questions? I am waiting to here one dialogue, just one - on the lines of "It's none of your business what Anuj and I do, we're not answerable to any of you, so mind your own business" - but that just never happens!

2) Also, where is the old Kinjal these days - the Kinjal who had taken a stand for Anupama when Vanraj's ema was revealed, the Kinjal who used to back answer Vanraj and Toshu every time they said something against Anupama, the Kinjal who said she'll not stay in the same house as Vanraj?

Kinjal rarely opens her mouth against Vanraj's taunts now. Guess she has also lost that courage!

3) Why do they have to show Anupama as a superwoman? She wakes up early in the morning - cooks breakfast and lunch for the whole family, makes prasad for Lord Krishna, makes snacks for Baa Bapuji, makes burgers for all the other losers who just know how to eat, goes to the school and takes cooking classes, then goes to the dance school to take classes, also makes some special dishes at Vanraj's cafe, comes back home and makes dinner, puts everyone to bed and now also going to work on a new partnership......Still she has time for all this bhaashan....

I am a woman and I hardly have time in a day to balance between a full-time job and some basic household chores. I hate that this kind of woman is shown as the perfect woman.

No man in the Shah house does anything including Vanraj, Toshu, Bapuji, Mamaji and Even Samar. I might have seen Bapuji cutting veggies once and Samar doing odd jobs once in a while, that's all.

Toshu is so useless that he can't even get a glass of water by himself. He asked Kavya for water when the jug was right next to him.

I might skip a few episodes till the show becomes progressive!

@moonwearer: You are right! But even when Devika speaks clearly and puts things in perspective, Anupama says "don't try to instigate me against my family" when she clearly knows that Devika too has her best interests at heart.

Also, it's not like Anupama has no one to go to. She has her own mother and brother who did dote upon her but I hardly see her give importance to them in her life. It's always Baa-Bapuji and she undermines her own parents' contribution to her life, even though her family has always been supportive to her.

But yes, like you I am waiting for the day she tells the 4 idiots to go to hell! I just feel that story is progressing painfully slowly to that point :)

She tells Devika you know my family has given me more love. Not sure if her mom and brother doted on her. Or were kept away by the glorious Baba Yaga.

Ya I am like you too, just sometimes insta posts and IF written updates. You are definitely not alone, I have seen many doing the same.

I get all she ever knew was that house and abuse, but now she is working outside - has seen enough world, must have spoken to children's parents she is teaching. But no, nada no change. We are still waiting on Devika and Anuj to drag her out of that madhouse, it's her journey - how long others are going to push her to do something.

From EMA to this day, why someone else have to push her. Initially she lacked outside world's exposure but what now?

Forgot about progressive, I would be happy if she at least move out of that house!

The writers are trying so hard to show Anu has the ideal woman because they have shown her as a divorcee and now potentially entering a new love chapter

This is still frowned upon in many societies so to compensate for this the writers have gone into hyper Sanskari mode re Anu

I too have commented many times how unrealistic they have shown Anu

Even her sari jeans skirt bhashan was annoying. Because after saying all that she then looks at Baapu ji for approval. I was like ok so your wearing a sari to appear modest & Sanskari for your inlaws satisfaction?

I'm watching for Anuj & GK scenes...I tend to FF SaNan or when Anu is alone crying

I too felt exactly the same, the story is more or less stuck at that point. If we think about it, Anupama’s life has not changed one bit…

She’s still the maid of the house and is cooking for vanraj and family and baa is still taunting her although she is not her mother in law anymore.

yes, I think the writers are worried about anupama’s perception of the viewers. So they want to show her as the most sanskari bahu, maa etc

Yeah, what’s the need for that saree bhashan? I wanted her to tell Kavya that she will wear what she likes. She’s always looking for approval from everyone - especially that evil baa who never wants to see her former daughter in law happy!

Whole heartedly agree! Toshu looked like an idiot when he asked for water. Is he so useless that he cant get water that is right beside him?😕 And the way Anupama scurried towards him as soon as he asked for it, cringe!! She should have just told him off right then to get it himself.

The prev night she is shown having a monologue of finishing all her duties in the kitchen etc.... there's a huge army of people in the household, but everyone just lingers around doing nothing. 😕

The current bahu doesnt lift a finger, while the ex-bahu slogs round the clock. Give me a break! 😲
