Well I am not saying that Ram does not understand love becoz as far as all the dialogues yet, it is clear that he does understand love pretty well even he may be right when he says mujhse zyada pyaar ko koi nahi samajhta but I get the vibe that he keeps defining the ideal love that he wants instead of the love that he has experienced.
I think he has never experienced love first hand i.e. two sided love even though he of course claims that he loves Vedika and of course his family and both of them are kinda not reciprocated by them but he seems fine in the surface level with not being loved back but furthers this theory as he believes in bookish concept of love that it's fine if they are not loving me back, I will do anything for them. We have not yet seen how Ram was in a relationship with Vedika or for the matter even if there was any relationship with her in the first place as it could be that Vedika was always Ram's one sided love. But one thing is clear that even in a relationship Vedika must have used him then too.
My point of this post is that he know the notion of love pretty well but since he never received love that he expects to, he creates ideal definitions in his mind and fulfills all the necessary duties for his loved ones but he actually does not know what a love relationship is either with a gf/lover or his family.
