A lot of people are of the view that Anupamaa is being completely unrealistic when she goes to help Paakhi. Though her Sori becomes irritating for us viewers, but if you consider yourself in the shoes of a mother, what she's doing is completely consistent. Bacche chahe kucch bhi kar lein, parents, most especially mothers, never stop having soft spots for them. I frequently read reports in the newspapers, the old people who their children abandoned in old age homes, they still worry about the good of their children. Mother, especially Indian mother, you cannot understand her logic unless you become one yourself. In fact it is far more realistic, because unlike other shows, Anupamaa is not shown after a leap of eight years knowing about Vanraj's infidelity to become India's most successful businesswoman who is ruthless, modern and only after revenge. Anupamaa didn't completely changed after knowing Vanraj's betrayal and it's kind of realistic. She is just trying to set up a decent dance academy.

Also, some people call Nandini and Kinjal Anupamaa ki chamchis. Look, I agree no one will choose her mother in law over her mother but look at it this way, it kind of establishes the contrast of found family and blood family. The family related to blood with Anupama(with the exception of Samar) viz. Paakhi and Toshu always hurt her the most but Kinjal and Nandini appreciate Anupama. Also I kind of like how Anupamaa is doing things by her own at her own pace instead of requiring someone else (in most TV shows, it's the daughter who makes her mother empowered) but the character of Paakhi completely flips this trope.

And can we talk about how expertly crafted the character of Vanraj is. His character is the one we are supposed to hate the most but as a viewer, I'm often caught offguard, when his vulnerability shines in some scenes. I mean you spend days hating him and then a scene makes you stop in your tracks.

Also Bapuji, he doesn't only care about Anupamaa, he gives due respect and dignity to Kavya also. Baa is also one ccharacter you can't predict. She was the typical MIL taunting her bahu, but sometimes her response to Rakhi, Paakhi is just awesome.

And can we just appreciate the fact that no one is kidnapped in the show, or the characters don't spend half their times in police station or hospitals, weddings don't take three months to complete, characters actually go to their work.

Sorry but I completely disagree about Anupama's behaviour towards Pankhi being an accurate representation of how most mothers would react in this situation.

In the majority of real Indian families I have seen, respecting parents is seen as VERY important, and having at least one of their approval is seen as paramount for pretty much anything the child does.

In fact I have seen many more cases in our community where parents have gone overboard abusing their positions, than ones where children treat their parents like dirt completely unprovoked and just get away with it as shown in this serial (and among people I actually know or even know of personally, the number for that is currently at zero, btw).

I agree that this show has definitely been more logical and sensible in terms of it's storyline than a lot of other things on ITV in the past and present (which is saying something 😆).

But the idea that most mothers (Indian or otherwise- but especially not Indian) would think and act like Anupama is in this situation is just laughable.

Totally agree with you 👍 as a mother I make sure that no matter what my son is my priority period, he/she can behave differently with mother but no mother (most of) leave child when they needed support Agar Anupama help nahi karti to yaha sab log hath mai zanda leke chillate ke kaisi maa hai maa har haal mai bacche ki help karti hi hai chahe koe bhi color ya desh ki ho...

Thanks for stating it. 👍🏼 This is what makes this show stand out from the zillion other shows that are out there! This is one show that doesnt have the mundane ITV soap opera ingredients like mentioned above. Of course, this also has its faults, but nothing that will make you go nuts.

Motherhood doesn’t demands to stay as nanny for your own child.

Motherhood doesn’t demands to keep quite and act as peacemaker against bratty children.

Motherhood doesn’t demands to accept to all unnecessary trash from child’s mouth.

Motherhood doesn’t demands to accept tantrums and insults from your own child.

Motherhood doesn’t demands to live as becheri mummy all the time.

They should stop showing like anupama is the only woman on the planet who has got chance to become mother and who is always right in each and every situation.

What anupama does on the name of motherhood is unacceptable and senseless actions.

I can see they tried to show education is not everything in the form of Rakhi, Kavya , Toshu and vanraj type people but must say uneducated person can also act senseless and anupama is prime example of senseless woman .

If writers has ability show educated senseless people in the show then must say on the name of faltu ka mamta, I am seeing uneducated senseless woman with low self esteem on screen in the same show.
