Prabhas being paid 30 cr more is revolting. The man can't even act for god's sake 😒😒😒
And it's good Deepika pulled out for whatever reason. I want to see some new pairing. Ranveer-Deepika are getting quite stale tbh.

Didnt deepika´s solo film opened around 4crs? So how can she expect to be paid as much as ranveer?😆
I believe in equal pay but come on, her last movie was an utter failure despite all the drama and ranveer has been consistently producing hits. Even for a movie like gully boy. Deepika hasn't really had a hit solo movie while ranveer has so it kinda makes sense.
"Crowd Pull" is largely a myth anyway.
In 2010, Salman Khan had Veer (a flop) and Dabangg (a blockbuster hit) within the space of 8 months.
The truth is, it's always a COMBINATION of factors that pull the audience into the theatre. It's not just the "hero". It's the heroine, the music, the hype around the film, promotions, story, trailer reaction... So just paying the lead guy 10x more than anyone else is SHAMEFUL.

Make a Charlies Angels with Deepika, Katrina, Ananya, and even the Salman fan types will go to watch. No one wants to fork out hard-earned money to be lectured at for 2+ hours on feminism. And I say this as a feminist.
Why do you think feminist movies are "lectures"? And we as a society need movies like Mardaani, Soni, English Vinglish and Dangal.
We have too many fluffy, candyfloss-ish stuff nowadays. Gotta have some hard-hitting stuff to balance it up.
More than who stays and who opts out, my concern is SLB's ability to pull it off. Baiju Bawra is a story of a guy seeking to avenge Tansen (a great musician and one of the nine gems/Navaratna in Akbar's court) via music more than the love story between Baiju and his love interest Gauri.
Good music and engrossing story telling would be paramount for movies like this. SLB sure has given good to great music in the past (although I found music of his last two movies average at their best). The settings of Akbar's court will be magnificent going by his past records, any actor playing Baiju's love interest will look like a dream (acting I'm not very sure of) as he will spend a fortune to ensure treating audience with the best visual aesthetics.
It is the script and storytelling that I'm worried about.
didn’t cocktail had 11 crore opening day and with small screenings and budget was small with 35 crore but earned 126 crore overall collection, it was the director’s first hit movie and Kareena with heroine was a huge budget and it made 60 crore in India. Kareena is a huge star but she is not vidya balan who can draw crowd to the theatre and if Kareena was in ram leela I think it would’ve flopped. I think Kareena is smart these days she’s doing movies with big stars, I am looking forward to her movie with aamir, they always look good together. Deepika before she got married was a bigger star than rs, that’s why all his movies in between SLB was flopping and movies with dp was a hit. Now after marriage I think rs is a bigger star so dp should not be asking same price as him.Originally posted by: hotchoco
I know it’s cool and woke to say the female stars deserve the same amount but it’s not justified. Apart from Kareena, they all get 2 to 4 crore openings. With that said, maybe they would do better if they stopped making boring dukhi aurat movies and chose more crowd pleasing subjects.

Why should it just be on crowd puller ability only though? Amount of effort being put in for that movie should also be considered. Maybe john has a bigger, meatier role requiring more shoots and schedules than deepika, thereby requiring to put in more effort as well. Maybe he is doing his stunts by himself with deepika using a stunt double a lot more than him.
Crowd pull is indeed important, but shouldn't be the only criteria for deciding the pay grade
But that is not how businesses work....people are paid not by the effort they put in their job....but by how much of their effort actually turns into profit for their company....that is why BW is different than other industries......in another Company.....a male computer programmer and a female computer programmer's efforts will result in the same profit for the company..so they should be paid equally regardless of gender ....but in BW...for example in a Salman movie...maybe every other person is making more effort than Salman I am sure😆 but its Salman's name that is drawing the crowds......so its Salman who deserves to be payed that highest.......yes we can argue on who is a bigger crowd puller between Deepika and John....but its the bigger crowd puller who deserves to be paid more.....not the one who puts in more efforts...
If Alia fans are too bored with this film..you can imagine what they privately think about Gangu.Had that trailer been good..DP fans would have been mildly interested.
And then the subject of Baiju.. SLB has gone Bawra🥱
