Also depends on the size of the role which makes me thinks hers is smaller than John's to be paid less - unless she has an additional back end deal that he doesn't.

I am sorry but, IMO none of today's female star is a bigger crowd puller than say Ranveer or Ranbir or John Abraham or Ayushman Khurana or some other A-lister.

I know it’s cool and woke to say the female stars deserve the same amount but it’s not justified. Apart from Kareena, they all get 2 to 4 crore openings. With that said, maybe they would do better if they stopped making boring dukhi aurat movies and chose more crowd pleasing subjects.

Make a Charlies Angels with Deepika, Katrina, Ananya, and even the Salman fan types will go to watch. No one wants to fork out hard-earned money to be lectured at for 2+ hours on feminism. And I say this as a feminist.

👍🏼 I have been saying this.

I am not saying this to defend DP or anything. Female centric movies are so heavy and so not for the mass. Look at how good VDW did. I would love any of these guys to do Chhaapak and to make very successful.

That would also require 3 big name actresses and not just one though.

I don’t know why nobody has tried to make a mid-budget action movie starring an actress. Kangu’s upcoming Dhakkad is the only one I can think of. 🙄

Queenpika Padukrown deserves the MOST highest payment on the bloody film. She's not only "senior actress" but also a bigger star than her co-star(s).

If at all this is true, which I don't think it is.

Why should it just be on crowd puller ability only though? Amount of effort being put in for that movie should also be considered. Maybe john has a bigger, meatier role requiring more shoots and schedules than deepika, thereby requiring to put in more effort as well. Maybe he is doing his stunts by himself with deepika using a stunt double a lot more than him.

Crowd pull is indeed important, but shouldn't be the only criteria for deciding the pay grade

In almost every commercial endeavor, it is the only criterion. Those who can bring in more money get paid more.
