We root for Shashi and Laurent but disapprove of Malaika and Arjun?

Who's we? Shashi loved her husband and family regardless of whatever issues they may have had. Just because a white dude liked her doesn't mean that she would abandon her family. It was just a one-sided thing so what is there to approve or disapprove?

OTOH, I don't have any issue with Maliaka and Arjun. If they both want the relationship, who are we to disapprove or meddle in it? It's gross that it started as an extramarital affair but that's a whole other issue.

While Malaika and Arjun's may have started as an extramarital affair, we do not know what Arbaaz was up to for Malaika to make those choices. Who knows, he may have been a philanderer too. So I prefer not to judge her.

Typical of film-lovers to root for a couple on screen, but not a real life couple in the same situation.

Maybe that was the backstory Sridevi was told but in the movie itself, it didn't come across that way. It seemed like she was flattered by the attention of another man (who wouldn't be?) but it wasn't important in the grand scheme of things. She loved her family and was happier as soon as she developed more respect for herself.

About Arjun and Malaika - yeah, we don't know what really happened there. It's hard for me to have any outrage over it though because everyone seems satisfied with their lives. Arbaaz has a girlfriend too and the Khan family all get along well. I don't think their son is bothered either. Celeb kids are anyway used to unusual relationships and divorces because their friends are all going through similar things too. I've been watching Aaliyah Kashyap's youtube videos recently (Anurag's daughter) and she seems like a sweet, well-adjusted kid who gets along well with both her parents. Anurag and his ex-wife are also cool with each other and spend time together too. Divorces don't affect them the way they do middle-class folks.

Laurent was a weird guy tbh. You should not be hitting on a girl whos married or even taken that shamelessly.

I have no issue with Malaika and Arjun as we have no idea about what happened in any of these relationships because they are not a movie where we see their actual life.

Shahsi's husband was a disrespectful pig. Even if one can forget the day to day slights and insults the bedroom scenes made my skin crawl. She should have left him whether she wanted Laurent or not.
