How many times can you make the same mistake?

I was just watching the season 1 episode where Dev had just told Ishu about his relationship with Sonakshi. The three of them go shopping together, and even in that episode Sonakshi tells him that they need to give his mother some time to adjust to the situation. He Ignored it completely. The next day there's the whole family photo fiasco, wherein Sonakshi tells Dev again- "we need to give maa some time to adjust". He still doesn't get it! This is a direct parallel to the Ayush/Sona/Soha in season 3 where he just refuses to give people time to adjust to the situation at hand. Mr. Fixit as usual walks in with some random bandaid solution, and expects everyone to comply.

His wife has been begging him for 10 years at this point to just give situations some time to marinate, give people time to adjust- this bonehead doesn't seem to understand only!

How many times do you have to make the same mistake before you understand the issue altogether?

Lol in season 1 when he met Soha also tabhi bhi he didn't listen untill Soha called him Mr. Dixit.

How is it that the only time he listened to her was when they were separated.

the answer is many times- i respect the opinion of ppl in the forum who think dev was in anyway better in season 1. but he was not. reacting badly to one situation and not so badly to the other is not 'changing'. its just adapting to situations to get your way for now. nothing ever changed with dev. thus the same mistake- over and over and forever

I don't think so he will ever understand this point.

But man atleast you need to see the situation then reacts over it. I know for him also it's not easy at all but that doesn't mean he ignores other's feelings. Forcefully we can't do anything. When Sonakshi will feel anything about Ayush she herself will go to him and give all the love he deserves but till then he has to give some time to both Sona and Ayush.

Most annoying part- He wants Sonakshi to love both kids equally. Sonakshi is not Ishwari who would fall in and fall out of love base on khoon, blood, khandan, 9 mahine. He can see that Sonakshi is getting more possessive for Suhana, but can't see unhealthy obsession of his mother with Ayush. Sonakshi has a reason to get possessive, no doubt love is blind, but deep down she is aware about the reality of Maa-beta. At this point they are talking about equality, but one day they will measure 9 mahine wala beta above 9 years of struggle to raise beti. There is nothing like emotional attachments for them, it's all about 9 mahine and blood relation...

i think its also very easy for dev to say rubbish like that because his entire relationship with soha is based what he thought was his daughter and maybe 2 years of upbringing now?

he didn't raise soha. she ONLY mattered cos she was his biological child. for him it really doesn't matter who the child is- equal, unequal, good, bad, son, daughter, bhoot, jinn- all this is totally immaterial as long as its his blood first.

we could've perhaps had a better convo if he'd raised soha. he didn't. so its quite easy for him to just transfer his paternal feelings into a new vessel. sona should remind him of that and tell him to shut up.

This Mr. Fixit behaviour comes from the coddling Ishwari has subjected him to. He overcompensates and wants to make everyone comfortable. This impulsive nature is perfectly tempered when he listens to the sane person, Sona. With his mom in the picture, all good sense goes down the drain. She keeps pulling him into the same behavioural loop. The time to change it is now, when children and their future is at stake. Agar ab nahi seekha to kabhi nahi seekh sakte. If he lets go of Soha because his mom guilt trips him, then what even did Dev learn in all these years.
