The gorgeous Sonal talks about the person behind the characters she plays
She was born in Surat, but Sonal is a Delhite at heart. She was educated at Spring Dales School. During that time, Sonal was actively involved in theater, but never thought of herself as an actress. So, she majored from Delhi University with English Honors.
She worked for an advertising agency, McCann as a copywriter where she worked on campaigns for Nestle, Nike etc. She went on to learn filmmaking and also assisted director Pradeep Sarkar. She has done more than 20 commercials like Nestle' Bar One, Aaj Tak, Dabur Hajmola. She has also worked in many music videos with some big names like Euphoria, Pankaj Udhas, Jazzy B, Bally Sagoo and Harbhajan Mann.
Her first television stint was in the Star Plus' weekly Saara Aakash where she played the popular character of Sanjana. The character rose to popularity especially when the viewers found out that Sanjana had a negative characterization. Her portrayal of Sanjana in Saara Aakash redefined the role of vamps in Indian television as for the first time, a vamp never wore loud make-up or made evil faces. She also worked for about 40 episodes in Kasautii Zindagii Kay.
Currently, Sonal plays the lead role in Hotel Kingston on Star One. As Shelly, she feels, she has again redefined the role of quintessential television heroine. She isn't the usual nave heroine you see in most serials, but is a complete brat (which, quite actually resembles her in real life).
Sonal Segal has worked in a Hinglish film called You Dumsie Me opposite Gautam Rode (who also features in Ba Bahu Aur Baby). Sonal has never planned her life and wants to do good quality roles in the future, be it in television or films. Many fans feel that she is the sexiest woman on television and would love to know if Sonal has someone special. Sonal prefers to keep mum on her personal life only revealing that, she is currently single, but not ready to mingle.
