For example, I can speak really good Hindi because I learnt it from watching ITV and BW films and because my parents speak it. I can understand Punjabi and Gujarati also because my dad is from Delhi and mom is from Ahmedabad. I cannot read or write any of these languages though because they are not my first language. However, I am born and brought up in the US and I haven't been to India since before college. So not, being from India doesn't mean one doesn't know how to speak Hindi or understand it.

I know...but they could have used a different dialogue. The word like means liking someone for the person they are- - like is not used to signify the a romantic interest. There are different words for that. Unless, I am overanalyzing too much.

I feel she said it in an affectionate way like I don’t have any affection towards Virat not just like as a person in general

To be fair people's environment also defines what they understand and speak. I have friends who can't even speak a word of Hindi despite having parents who are 1st generation immigrants because their parents speak to them in English and my friends don't watch Indian movies or listen to Indian music.

Anyways, I don't want to discuss this either. Was just rather taken aback with the generalisation.
