Well let me tell you now I'm lazy when it come's to speaking Hindi but understand it well

I have my paternal grandparents who made sure my sibling and I don't stray from our roots.

Well definitely from US and live in Long Island, New York in a multicultural neighborhood

That's being rather stereotypical....

For example, I can speak really good Hindi because I learnt it from watching ITV and BW films and because my parents speak it. I can understand Punjabi and Gujarati also because my dad is from Delhi and mom is from Ahmedabad. I cannot read or write any of these languages though because they are not my first language. However, I am born and brought up in the US and I haven't been to India since before college. So not, being from India doesn't mean one doesn't know how to speak Hindi or understand it.
