Temptation, Rights and Freedom
The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it.
Oscar Wilde
We all succumb to temptations time and over. This time too, Shiva lost his grip. He has been long buried in a tangle of hatred, animosity swinging like a pendulum with Raavi. At the same time, his obsession with the parallel universe of hatred with Raavi gives him no sense of rhyme and reason. It's in these tiny tender, FREE moments, we get to see the vulnerable Shiva, who is an emotional puddle of mush under the garb of angst and Chattan Pandya Roop 😆
He has been tempted for a Long time For giving into his feelings for Raavi, holding her emotionally.
Here, I would like to mention a powerful symbolism! Most of the times, he grabs her like his own; there's intensity, anguish and no hesitancy, but there when Raavi tries to latch onto him emotionally, he retreats into his shell. Well, that's a classic traits of dominant personalities who wouldn't like to fall prey to their naked emotions.
Shivi, in their night escapades, are wandering birds-free from the baggage that makes them bitter, and their freedom is very beautifully elucidated in this clear and open space. 😆 near the lake! (my dream came true) 😆
I had written something long back as a thought which I believe still stands true for Shiva and Raavi.
Especially Raavi, who walks in like the serenity of the night like a cerulean paint in water. Their relationship is in deep blues but here, the blue gives them comfort and familiarity.
It's left to the viewer's imagination why she would walk out in solitude? Did she miss Shiva or needed to clear out the spaces in her mind? It's speculative but appropriately answered in the next shot!
They say that the most fabulous companion ships are formed in solitude. And, as much as as you force people together, companionship can't be! Two people who build a relationship together not only need company but the silence of solitude too.
These two needed this space of solitude.
Solitude gives birth to the original in us, to beauty unfamiliar and perilous
Thomas Mann,
But, guess what? These two are magnets 😆
Reptiles find Raavi, and Raavi finds Shiva. It's the best THREESOME 🤣🤣🤣
She knew it had to be him! The sense of familiarity is so evident. She can sense him from a distance. Guess the oils, masalas are now a part of her life. 👹
Shiva is like Wow! My Chipkali chipak gayi phir se. The way these two stick to each other is hilarious 😆
Then love knew it was called love.
And when I lifted my eyes to your name,
suddenly your heart showed me my way
Pablo Neruda
The night was so azure, but his eyes are like Azure Pools. Shiva and his hooded gaze have a language of their own. The soft gaze looking at her affirmative familiarity gave him perspective and Raavi, the much needed assurance.
His eyes were the same colour as the sea in a postcard someone sends you when they love you, but not enough to stay.
Warsan Shire
Oh, I love the expression here 🤣Her Saanp and her Bhootnath. What would she choose 🤣
Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before.
Mae West
God bless the Saanp, she crashes at her haven, those safe arms she is acquainted with! That won't betray her when it comes to her physical safety. Some things don't change between them. He’d rather get hurt physically than hurt her. Emotionally not there yet 😆
The multiple emotions that crash over his face is surreal! It's supposed to meet him, but he tries hard not to give up!
There is a charm about the forbidden that makes it unspeakably desirable.
Mark Twain
He stands there like a tall man, hands by his side, resisting the temptation of giving in emotionally with his caress of care. Almost like he is with Dev and Krish.
Do you really think ... that it is weakness that yields to temptation? I tell you that there are terrible temptations that it requires strength, strength and courage, to yield to. To stake all one's life on a single moment, to risk everything on one throw, whether the stake be power or pleasure, I care not -- there is no weakness in that.
OSCAR WILDE
Temptations are a grievous burden. A thorn in the flesh. They are fiery darts.
WILLIAM NOTCUTT
I cannot let you burn me up, nor can I resist you
Honestly, the previous series of caps are so fascinating. We never see Shiva hesitant touching, yanking Raavi around and encroaching her physical space. Why does he quivers at this moment? Why is he indecisive? Simply, because this is a real emotional connection where he has to step up his game of becoming a caregiver to her emotionally. It makes him suddenly grow up in his brain and overwhelms him with an emotional responsibility Raavi hasn't handed over to him yet. He is left confused, hesitant of this emotional intimacy and did pat her like a child in those split seconds before pulling back. Ahh, the angst. She isn't HIS yet, a forbidden woman who hasn't accepted him but is tied to him through the vows of sacred matrimony! He is reluctant, unsure of his rights or limits, but he gives in. He can caress his wife; she is seeking it; he must have mentally told himself many times before finally giving in!!
As I lifted the ash dagger, something inside me fractured so completely that there would be no hope of ever repairing it.
Sarah J. Maas,
I continue to exist, and he continues to exist, but we don’t exist together.
Colleen Hoover
He cannot exist in her consonance emotionally. He had given in for a split second, and the moment this realisation Sets in, He tries To pull back!
Oh, the angst of hating her, obsessing over her, pushing her and now eventually letting the stiff fibres of his heart leaven with her pervasive innocence and unwavering trust. She submitted her body to him, latching onto him for protection. It's a submission of the highest accord brings in emotions that even the most intense bond cannot usurp. He is the saviour, and she breathes because of him. Subconsciously, it's a considerable burden coupled with his complex emotions. I guess he died a thousand deaths to find the sanity to pull back. He is astounded by his own hands; they had a way of their own. ❤️
I see the scene very symbolically. It's Raavi who is currently wanting something more emotionally with him, clutching onto her tiny last straw of hope! She seeks an emotional attachment, which Shiva isn't ready to give yet.
Ohh! The angst 😆
Blues & Woes: The significance of Tinting in art, cinema and sets.
Blue symbolises often isolation, Idleness and calmness as well as cerebral melancholy.
Some of the other emotions like faith, spirituality, contentment, loyalty, fulfillment peace, tranquility, calm, stability, harmony, unity, trust, truth, confidence, conservatism, security, cleanliness, order, sky, water, cold, technology, depression are also vividly Represented by Blue in art!
I love how they have used different lights to set the brilliance
Shiva Raavi
The blue tone is vividly used as a tint to depict azure compartments at night where there is absence of moon Or lights. It's devoid of amber hues; another firm of tinting popular in art.
Here Shiva and Raavi are having a tender emotional connection contrasting to their intense blazing shots either in scorching daylight heat or in the confines of their bedroom lit by amber hues. Their scorching interactions set in amber hues have this saxophone Jazz like marching BG score that depicts their attraction while soft flute-like tones are used majorly for their emotional connections. Remember: The Chudail blue drenched screen.
They have flooding blue around them!
At the deepest hour of companionship, he realises, maybe it's okay to hold her as his own. It wasn't a panache of passion but a caress of care. Perhaps it's not taboo to have her like that. She is his, after all! The caress is the first time independent of Shiva’s obsession for her!
The freedom of their relationship breathes in this fresh air. They are neither suffocating with each other nor in the confines of their bedroom. The open space around them establishes such a beautiful breeze in their relationship. It's cold outside, so they seek warmth in each other.
Compare the peace in the previous scene with the anxiety in this one!
Washed blue frame! They are the perfect contrast to Gaura.
Gautam Dhara
If you contrast it with Gaura, the set was bathed in amber tints to represent warmth and radiant warmth. The hint of blue only occurs at a distant backdrop.
If you go back to Chand Sifarish too, it's set in warm amber tones while Shivi’s are set in blue haze!
Gaura Set in Amber
Their background scores are those of comfort and trust.
Sigh: continuing in the next post.
