Why Khander Rao is so crazy about getting appreciation?

I really don't understand why Khander Rao is so crazy about getting appreciation. He is shown as such an egoistic and jealous person who can't appreciate his wife for once. And this is mainly due to his mother's overpampering attitude towards him and her always belittling Ahilya and trying to project her as some sort of evil person in front of her son. The main reason lies in his worst upbringing by his mother. I don't know how much its historically true, but I don't care as long as Ahilya Bai's achievements are not belittled in the show.

Talking about Khander Rao, if his self-esteem is so low, why he is not working on it. He minds about his wife proving greater than him but he never worked on making himself better for his wife. Always he goes on complaining to his mother about his wife and his mother shuts her up and gave her punishments. And if Ahilya (who didn't in real) complained about him to his father, then she is wrong!! That's because only she is a girl and he is a boy. What a logic!! Girls are expected to behave as an ideal sacrificing wife for his husband even if he is wrong. That's why our society still not evolved much, and majority women are treated just like that directly or indirectly in all classes where they are not being allowed to reach higher in career compared to their husbands.

Well, Khanderao has a severe kind of inferiority complex along with an extreme ego, nurtured by his own egoistic mother. And Malharrao's scoldings/advice are impacting him in a negative way. Instead of reflecting on his own mistakes after Malharrao shows him the mirror, he commits more severe mistakes to avenge his wounded ego.

Bold: Probably that's the bitter reality of our society, even in today's times few insecure men become jealous of their wives. I wonder how Malharrao's son is so petty in character.🤔 He definitely has his mother's genes dominant.😆

Red: 💯 So damn true.👍

Lastly, I feel Khanderao's mother is more responsible for his current state. As I had mentioned in another post, instead of nurturing her son's character and skills, she simply eliminates all kinds of challenges from his life.

He's still a kid in his early teens, brazenly pampered by his mother with no proper guidance on the right path. More than Khanderao, his momma dear is to be blamed. The woman is grownup but acts like an obsessed fangirl of her child when she can't take criticism for her son.

Sometimes I believe his father needs to do some reflection too. I've been that child who wasn't understood and rebuked for thinking my own way. As teens, no matter what age, kids make mistakes, and at that time, parents have to act more mature and think from a different perspective. At times, the talent, the maturity is hindered because of how the parents choose to behave.

As much as Khanderao irritates the hell out of me, I believe both of his parents are responsible for what he is. While I believe his father did/does reflect on his flaws, his mother refuses to see the other side.

Shame.

Yes, deep down, there has to be a time wherein there will be disagreements/different perspectives between two generations. His father does some reflection but then it feels as if he forgot it the next moment. Gautama ka toh, gave up hope on that long ago so no comment on that. Khanderao blaming Ahilya for his failure in the exam whereas he refusing to accept his fault was quite jarring to the teeth.
