How many many millions of people do those 13 cities serve? IITs do not administer vaccine, but are we claiming no Healthcare personnel can go there and do so? There are other giant institutions. If only the people of the metro will get those vaccines, that is still millions and millions of people!

And yeah, at cost means no profit. And seriously, Pfizer's sale price WITH PROFIT is 19.5 USD. Less than the 1200 Covishield is currently going for.

And once again, Moderna vaccine requires only refrigeration. Which every nook and corner in India has. No one will mention it because the no facilities argument then falls apart.

AND it costs only 15 bucks even in the U.S. if they charged. Less than 1000 rupees.

How much is SI charging? That's right. 1200 INR. The taxpayer is paying that even if there is no out of pocket payment at the time of the jab.

So government refused to authorize more effective vaccines which cost less.

Don't give me that nonsense about trials. The current bridging trial is going on in 100 patients for 1 week.

Pfizer has been in talks with the government for months. Moderna is talking to the Tatas for local production, but they will need authorization from govt. It ain't them who delayed any trials. It's the government. Indemnification is stated to be the holdup.

Indemnification is something which was given by governments the world over, including the U.S., the most litigious of all countries. Because circumstances are dire. India does not want to do that. Which company in the world will want to provide vaccines under the situation when they developed it within the current timeframe?

Let's take the approval process: As far as I know, Remdesivir did not undergo detailed trials in India. Since it got approved by the US-FDA, according to the Clinical Trial Rules-2019, DCGI issued local clinical trial waiver with a close watch on its safety. 2 Indian pharmaceutical companies, Cipla and Hetero Labs Ltd., sought the clinical trial waiver from DCGI.

The same couldn't be done for vaccines?

As for America releasing Astra Zeneca's 60 million doses, INDIAN GOVERNMENT DID NOT ASK ASK FOR IT! Only for the raw materials which would take time and money to make and deliver.

The tone of the posts suggests that the U.S. government did India wrong by stockpiling AZ doses for its own citizens. The same U.S. government which allowed these vaccines to be tested on its own people and poured billions into an unknown territory to buy it AND indemnified the companies. All of which India is refusing to do.

Let us not kid ourselves that the authorities in India are victims of any kind in this. At best, they are incompetent. At worst, they are corrupt and criminal. The only victims are the people.

My feeling is that, and it is only a guess, the babus believed since India didn't get hit badly over the last year, they'd have the time and space to get Covishield to people AND make some money off it. Now that crap has hit the fan, they're stuck and HAVE to double down or admit to culpability.

Sad part is the number of people who will defend the babus tooth and nail in this. This is not a TV show where we can shout over each other and return home, no harm, no foul. People are dying. If citizens don't demand action from the people they're paying to serve them, they won't change. Just like any other employee.

Is this the price of Pfizer imported from USA or will be made in india like the Oxford developed AstraZeneca but being produced in India?

also isn’t the Covidshield being administered for free in india?

That's the price of Pfizer shots in the U.S. I'd hope they'd make it locally and reduce price in India. And I believe it's part of the discussion going on now.

Covishield is free for patients, but govt pays SI for each dose. Same as Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J are being paid by the U.S. govt, but patients don't pay anything.

This is the problem, forming opinions on the basis of insta/twitter viral posts.

Lol. how does it even matter? India mein toh hai na? This is the actual problem with the people - doing major in the minors and disregarding/ignoring the major problems.

I actually clarified in my reply that I'm not defending it. I'm just against misinformation. Something which everyone has been battling in the fight against covid.

Kal ko should I start claiming that Kumbh was in Punjab/Haryana coz India mein toh hai hi na.

These small things often lead to a chain of misinformation.

Par you do you👍🏼

The problem is not with you correcting but the tone with which you did it. like the member was spreading some kind of a malicious information when it was just a simple mistake of misnaming a place. I mean what does that have to do with viral posts, twitter and all that jazz, unless you were trying to vent your frustration of something else and venting it out through this? Or may be you are just doing you?

Also those saying it’s the states gov fault, ok but which politicians were holding mass rallies and boasting of crowd size until 2 weeks ago?

Also why is only Delhi and Maharashtra talked about when criticising state govs. What about Gujarat and UP? Didn’t yogi threaten for peoples property to be seized if they say there is oxygen and bed shortage? Even though people in this state are still running around helplessly for oxygen.

Even if it’s the state govs to blame it seems there is only one party that seems to be acting like goons. Threatening, having unfavourable tweets removed, sending letters to foreign countries for an article. 🤷🏽‍♀️

@bold: Umm, no. The act is against people spreading rumors and not actual grievances. There have been multiple occurrences in the past week itself where some people created panic where it was not needed just for SM likes/clout. So the act is against those. Like Swati Maliwal's(DCW chairman) grandfather died due to shortage of bed and then a number of people copy/pasted her exact tweet or something. Similarly, some guy tweeted for oxygen for his nana, got MPs and the police involved, wouldn't pick up their phone later and then later police found out that the nana had died of a heart attack, wasn't even a Covid patient and wasn't even prescribed oxygen cylinder. So they arrested the guy(which is unfair IMO, yes he wasted the efforts of many but still a warning should have been enough). This act is basically for such people.

I myself have been tweeting against black marketing of oxygen and Remdesivir in Lucknow and Varanasi (both in UP) and have been tagging officials as well. Thankfully no actions against me as of now (fingers crossed though, you never know with UP police).

Yogi Adityanath has his head in the sand for sure, UP currently has a massive shortage of genuine oxygen supplies. There's rampant black marketing going on. Uss pe this guy is all, 'we have no shortage'😡

There have been massive imports for UP but nothing can be seen on the ground. He's going to plunge UP into a massive black hole all the while sitting in his isolated room.

You really think people don't notice a pattern, eh?

It's you who has gotten hyper. I just stated a fact. You can keep on doing an analysis of my 'tone' or whatever, I know what riled you up😉

Also, there's no harm in getting atleast your basics right before spouting allegations now is there?

My post is in answer to the TM who is basically pointing finger to Bollywood. And my answer is some people in Bollywood are trying to help.

But keep in mind it's not their responsibility. It's the government who has to deal with the current situation. What the celebs are doing right now is basically charity. Realistically they don't owe anything to anyone.

You have to demand from your government why they let the situation reach this state ? The virus didn't spread just like this. It means they hid stuff and they are accountable.

Also they should reach out their hand to the neighbouring countries that could help as the country is in a state of emergency.

Chalo so two wrongs make a right? Tum gadhe toh main bhi gadhi? You want to risk your life by doing stupidity so I should come out and do the same just to prove a point? People are already demonstrating online no? I mean I don’t know what % of India is on Twitter but sure, do whatever it takes if you think it will help. But prey tell, is your online demonstration helping? Should we stand by and do nothing meanwhile?

Sorry but NO. The celebs helping are in the absolute minority right now. Bollywood as a whole has done %$|€ all. PC JUST about spoke up. What they’re doing is not enough and it deserves to be called out. We’re not asking for their money for God’s sake. Is it more a political crisis at the moment or a humanitarian crisis? As you said, no-one is obliged to do anything, but anyone with a shred of humanity with that much power would help save a single life if they knew they could. But in logo se kya umeed karna.🤢
