Plotting
“Mother…” he grumbled as he served himself the delicious cream sauce over his pasta
“Are u exhausted love?”
“No? “Why?”
“I mean the scare”
“I think you made it all better by telling us we need to stop this whole thing and end the prospect of babies so that really helped” he laughed
“Umm… how… um… oh! Did she tell you “I” came up with the idea?”
“Oh no, she said you were very gracious and progressive in how you think” he said with a smile
“Did she think I am 100?” Smrita tried to deflect
“Oh, no, she said you think like a 20 something” he tasted a corkscrew pasta slowly
“she did?”
“Hmm”
“Well she is sweet…”
“she is” he looked at his wife, standing all the way across the room keeping the Ext Affairs Minister and his Jt Secy engrossed in some conversation
“Enjoy your life there is no rush for babies” Smrita began her speech
“Ma… I am 31, give it a rest” he smiled
“What did I say?” she looked offended
“You were actually giving me conjugal advice”
“I don’t want you to rush into things”
“Thanks for looking out for me” he smiled slowly
“You two are my world”
“What about Dad”
Smrita colored self consciously”
“Don’t talk like an attorney”
“Sorry, I was kidding” he recoiled quickly not wanting to create a scene
“I am glad I don’t have to nag you” Satyen tapped him fondly
“To chat with Mum?”
“Aur kis baat par? I heard you bought your wife a nice work desk and a glass book case, not my idea od wedding gift, but OK” Satyen laughed
“Well, she was probably going to return any jewelry I was going to buy for her”
“Smrita gave her a diamond necklace? Bracelet? Something the day of the wedding”
“Oh I have given her multiple sets” Smrita reiterated
“You kept count?” Satyen jabbed her in a friendly way
“Both father and son think I hate her or something”
“You just don’t want grandkids… you love her a lot, I get it” Raanav silkily announced to Dad what Mum was upto
If Smrita’s words did not contain any malice she would not have stiffened or gotten upset
“Aapne hamare liye bhi decide kar diya?” Satyen laughed he was amused rather than being angry
“Satyaaa” she cooed
“I want grandkids arey I am hoping she has the twin gene and she has twins” he laughed
“that would be cool” Raanav nodded
Smrita did not expect it
“They are just 31”
“We had them both before 30” Satyen whispered in her ear as if Raanav did not know
“That’s why, they should enjoy”
“If you guys are making plans about my life I better be informed” Rakshit waved walking over
“Mum is making plans about mine” Raanav informed
“Oh wow what now?”
“they are all making a big deal I told him to wait to have babies…”
“We plan to… atleast 5” Rakshit nodded
“She recommends” Raanav stopped
Smrita’s shoulders slumped in relief
Satyen would butcher her if he ever found out her mischief
Viveka brought the guest over as they approached the buffet, the other guests mingled in
“Feel OK?” raanav asked her protectively
She probably knew what his mother was up to, he was embarrassed Viveka Mathur did not deserve such devious plotting
“Haan? Apne parents ke saath kya saazish kar rahe the?”
“whats saazish?”
“Plotting”
“Oh… just thinking of whisking you away some place horrible” he muttered
“It better be cold and lonely”
He laughed his eyes twinkling
