Anirudh could take Bondita anywhere he wants as her husband, which gives him legal authority over Bondita. The moment annulment happens Anirudh will no longer be her legal guardian. His status in her life will be that of a stranger. Bondita's family will get her custody. Do you think a family in a traditional society will allow a girl to go somewhere with a man without a proper relation? Remember the condition put forward by Mini's father in front of him to take her to London for treatment? That is how society works.Forget about taking her away, he will not even have the right to take any decision regarding Bondita
I agree society doesn't have any legal authority. After annulment Anirudh's condition will also be the same. He will also not have any legal right over Bondita. Her family will decide what she should do. As a minor and a girl, I don't think even Bondita will get a chance to decide for herself. Then how can Anirudh take decisions for Bon? Based on which right?
Anirudh's moral ground is the real dilemma. He is the petitioner. So if he doesn't break his marriage, it will look like he is showing double standard. If he breaks marriage, there is no guarantee that he can make Bondita barrister. Let's see how the track will end and what solution will come. I personally think some middle path will be shown.
Even after Anirudh saving her young daughter Sumati refused to live with them saying she will not compromise her self respect. At that time it was Bondita's house. So definitely she will not live with them after breaking the relation
Sumati being her mother has legal right on her, if she can't live with them, she can do something for Bondita, it seems like her mother is a stuck up who would rather see her child dead than do anything for her, if her ego is more important than life of her child, I think she is in dire need of a reform, she surely can see how her daughter needs education and help her in any way she can, she did help Anirudh in last track when she knew he is sending her to dalhousie, which he can do now, with consent of Bondita's legal guardian
Anyway, One can come up with thousands of excuses in support of child marriage, it wouldn't have been easy for Bondita to go to school as society is against it, but when has Anirudh been a champion of the society, I thought he is here for better future of women, not to succumb to pressure of society, which has no legal power and RCs are obviously way more influential consider the status of Zamindars in British India
Looking at current track and Anirudh leaving the decision of divorce on a 12 years old, relinquishing responsibility, putting the blame of every decision on her - The wrong side of child marriage, a child should not be burdened with responsibility of a household, look at this man giving her responsibility of divorce, the whole point of ending Child marriage is that young girls can't consent to it
This is not the Anirudh who filed petition for betterment of women
