Mistaken..
She was unusually chirpy that evening, he noticed.
Even with all the money he had, he had never been this happy with the biggest of his deals. He found it hard to accept people can be happy over a deal of 50,000. What possibly could that money bring? A car servicing, he chuckled. But seeing this woman, smiling and greeting each one of her customers, he felt his muscles relax. He had a huge loss this morning, nearly 100 times her profit but the disappointment seemed to wash away. He was happy for her.
It was yesterday when she had popped up in front of his house, like all the times she did. He was so habitual of it now, he didn't even care. Nine out of the 10 times his bell rang, he could guess it would be her. He was no less, even after knowing how her parents specially that Rambo felt about him, he won't skip one reason to go and make a scene at Deshmukh's. So last night when she came, he had let her in, waiting for her to either ask for some kind of help or give him a peace of her mind. He tried remembering if he had done something that would have her lecture him, before he could, she solved his misery and asked him to help her, ofcourse in her own unique way, as if she wasn't asking for help.
"Dekho tumne he Mansi ki shadi tudwai the, ab itti muskil se sab theek hua h, tumhare pass mauka h meri help krne ka" she said crossing her hands across her chest
"Seriously? Hai mere pass mauka? Mereko to laga ab mai kese jeeyega ye mauke k bina..thank you saree shop..tumhara help krne m apne aap pe ehsaan karega.." He said smiling widely
"Ho gya? Majak ni krri main.. amma ko btau tumhari?" She said
"Mera Amma ka baad m sochna, tumhara rambo ko btau tum yaha aya karke?" She asked his hands on his waist. She started to say something but then decided against it.
"Kya help chaiye tmko?" He asked much against his ego
"Dekho meko pese ki bhot jarurat h, shadi preponed ho gai h.." she said
"Kitte pese chaiye? Btao m deta hai" he said
"Nahi nahi, mjhe pese nahi chaiye" she waved her hand in negative
"Pese ki jarurat hai to kya pese ki jagah patte chaiye tumko?" He asked confused
"Mera matlab hai, mjhe tumse pese nahi chaiye, bus meri help krdo.. mene suna hai tumhare jitte b employees hai they have to wear a set of formal indian attire for the annual jayati ceremony" she asked, a bit hesitant. He nodded, eyeing her.
"Toh tum.."
"Toh m unko bolu ki tumse le wo apne dresses.. I can't do that.. how can u force my employees"
"You don't have to force them, bus ye bolna ki if they take it from me in bunch of 5 people, they will get 30% discount per group" she said grinning. He looked at her and smirked. She was so smart when it came to business strategy but of course he wouldn't say it out loud. He accepted her proposal but he didn't know she'd do all this at his own house.
Coming out of his thoughts, he sighed looking at the scene in front of him. What a fish market, he thought.
He was about to go and retire in his bedroom when his eye caught an uncomfortable pallavi standing opposite to a man.
"Kon h ye" he asked Farhad who had a better view of him
"Anna he's the manager of one our branches in Hyderabad" Farhad answered, sensing concern in his voice
"Kya baat kar raha h ye esa ki saree ka dukan ka rang udd gya.." he said getting up and moving towards them..
"Lal peeli sariya pehnna toh chodo, tumhe to ise bechna bhi nhi chaiye, tum kya chahti ho ya jitte b log h wo shadi krte he widhwa ho jaye he said
"Aye, kya ho raha h idhar.." he said hearing the commotion
"Sir" The man turned and looked at him
"Kya bol ra Tum isko saree ni pehnna karke, tumko pata nahi h democracy hai is country mai.." he said trying to be patient
"Sir apko pata nahi hai ye kesi ladki hai" He said scanning her from head to toe, which raghav noticed
"Idhar dekh, use kya ghur raha h, or kesi ladki hai matlab? Tujhse kya kisine uska character certificate manga?" He said holdinh him by the collar
"Sir aap nahi jante, kuch time pehle iske ghar walo ne mjhe iske rishte k liye ghar pe bulaya tha, bina kuch bataye mere mathe marna chahte the ise.. " He stammered, scared of him.
"Iska ghar ka log to h he mental, tere jese chuze ko bulaya shadi k liye, unhe lga tu iske layak hai?" he left him turning towards Pallavi who was shaking and on the verge of crying
"Sir ye kisi k layak nahi h"
"Kyu be? Tu Rajnikant hai?" He said again holding her by the collar.
"Sir ye widhwa hai na.." he said and Raghav's grip on his collar loosened. He looked at him, he was still blabbering some nonsense that couldn't get past his external ear. Everything around him went numb. He turned his gaze towards Pallavi, for a split second she locked her eyes with him and it was enough for him to know the truth, to see the pain behind them.
"Kya bolre ho tum" he heard Farhad ask that man, and came out of the shock.
"Han, mai to keh he raha tha, sir isne apko bataya nahi na, apko bhi meri taraf fasaya hai, apko b sach se dur rakha. Ye or iska parivar h he esa, ye widhwa manhoos hote hai sir, mjhe to lagta hai aj jo hamara itta bada loss hua hai isi k kaale saye ki wajah..." He could not complete his sentence and the next minute he touched his face to realise he was bleeding, before he can comprehend what had happened, Raghav punched him again, and again, and again until Farhad and many of the co-workers intervened and seperated them
"Isko bolo abi yaha se chala jaaye, merko yaha se nahi, pura Hyderabad se bahar chaiye ye, dubara mere samne aya na m dunia se bahar bhej dega tumko.." he roared, spreading a sense of fear across the hall. Farhad signalled them to leave. One by one all of them left, leaving behind the three of them, Pallavi was still standing in the corner, her hands encircling her, Her thumb wiping the tears that kept forming.
"Kesa parvarish h in log ka Farhad, insaan ko insaan nahi smjhta ye log.." he hissed in disgust turning to look at a vulnerable Pallavi standing aloof.
"Or tum Saree ka dukan" he said trying to ease her out
"Tumne mereko pehle kyu nhi bataya?" He asked authoritatively
"Sorry.." she choked on her own words "par ye sach h.. I am a widow" she said her voice shaking.
"Arey ye janne m koi interest nahi hai mereko, ye kyu nahi bataya ye tumhare ghar pe aake batmeezi kia karke.. m usi time isko job se nikal deta.." he said, making her look up
"Tab m janti nahi the tumhe" she said instead of her usual because I don't need your help.
"Han smjha, mjhe janne k baad to tum kisi ladka k baare m socha he nahi hoga haina?" He smirked, making her laugh. "Kuch bhi" she smiled.
"Or tumhara ye saree bazar ko bhagane k liye sorry, loss jitta hua bhijwa dena jayati jeweller" he said trying to suppress his smile
She pressed her lips together and blinked away her tears
"Or suno" he said as she started packing her things. She looked up at him.
"Ye ek saree mai khareed raha hai, bill m add kr lena" he said, picking up a red saree with yellow border.
"Okay" she smiled a little and kept it aside. Packing everything up and giving him the saree he asked for she turned to leave.
"Ye to le k jao" he said making her turn
"Huh?" She raised her brow as he extended the same saree towards her
"Tumpe laal peela acha lagta hai" he said as they locked eyes, her eyes brimming with water. How can she be mistaken about this person for so long???

Note : this widow thing is overtly sensitive nd I fail to understand why, I don't think anyone has the right to treat other human being harshly or think low of them just because they lost a partner?? It is more with the women who lost their husbands than men. Harsh world girls!!! But honestly, I am sick of it, It should never matter and that's what I want from Raghav, when he comes of know of it, I don't want him to be you know pity her or curse her, or feel cheated. I just want him to be normal, and to let her know that he's just a normal woman. Phewwww too much of gyan. Ok bye.
