I just love your post , you just nailed it!

I am totally with you in every point you have said

Yes I am An Adili shipper, I sign for this show for them only, but I didn't judge the show and characters through this angle at all, I fall in love with the show , storyline and all characters too!

And I feel the progress is well done till now, very believable.

About the most debatable issue of the show (Millani), I agree with you, I still have a soft edge for her, I didn't gave up on her yet!

But I also understand the loose of connect with her from others, and how they find it hard to sympathy with her anymore.

She is just ignoring all the facts which lead to the truth, dismiss to confront any action directly to the face, by telling herself that she is overthinking! Specially if Imlie is part of the matter! And never for once recall the lame jock of Adi get married to Imlie in a gunpoint! Like any normal wife will raise the question of why?! What is Imlie for you?! But No direct question is asked, only tell me what is going on? Why we are changed?! i miss us!

I don't know how long I will keep up my soft edge for her, she start to annoy me already

I will continue watching the show as it enjoy me, I relate to, and having fun!

But once I feel that I cant digest it, it is way grossing to me, I cant bear with what it gave me, that I stoped enjoying it and it give me stress, I will stop watching it!

Why do I have to ask the makers to tyrol it according my wishes? Yes I wish they don't go the original storyline and change on it for the sake of our charachters, but if they don't and I found myself disliking it, I will stop watching it and thats the end!

I think Malini has never really faced a personal conflict in her life, she’s seen it happen all her life but never saw people actually dealing with them. Like her mom and dad, fighting 24/7 but never resolved their differences. So she just found a comfortable relationship and stuck to it as an escape as much as love. For 7 years she surprisingly managed to live in a conflict free relationship probably cause aditya ki har baat maan leti thi as they showed holi khelna bhi band kardi, to avoid conflict because she’s somewhere scared of it. But that led to an extremely superficial and boring relationship, the both of them have no idea about each other’s feelings ya thoughts ya even likes aur dislikes surface level ke elawa. And right now all her delusions regarding the relationship are crumbling down toh she avoids the truth, acts out, it’s understandable but not acceptable. I think it’s about time they progress with her character or it’s getting very repetitive. Hopefully, the sindoor drama will give her some brain cells and we’ll see the character progress.

Thank you 😊 this is going to be my first and last post though, I don’t like getting into debates, I prefer enjoying the show outside forums and sm but I sometimes visit here and the recent derogatory terms being used for the show and characters really got on my nerves so I made one 😅

Great topic! I mostly agree with your points about the show.

Adding to your point about people wanting clear cut distinctions between black and white, I think people also want to be spoon-fed things which this show doesn't do. It's too subtle at times, which in my view makes it all the more enjoyable. Like I think people want Adi to directly SAY (have a monologue) that he thinks he is in the wrong for not being able to tell Malini right now and spell out the reason why but we have been SHOWN why many times so I'm not going to go into that right now. It's been explained many times on the forum already. People are also hung up on superficial things like naukraani label, Imlie's appearance etc. Frankly I don't think this show is for you if you can't get past the surface and appreciate the essence of layered characters like Adi & Imlie (sorry I gave up on Malini). These characters are not doodh ke dhule...they make mistakes and they suffer the repercussions. As you rightly pointed out, that's the beauty in these characters, that they are not perfectly white and saintly. Most importantly, this is a bigamy show and people I think can't accept this and continue with their tirades.

Regarding grey characters & bigamy, there are many stories where the man has two wives and loves one inspite of having physical relation with the other wife (out of obligation). From a storytelling perspective, a soulful connection between two lovers has been convincingly shown even in these stories. I am not justifying this, I am just pointing out that in contrast this show has clearly shown that Adi has physically distanced himself from Malini and people still accuse him of being immoral? Others have also rightly pointed out in other threads that he used to do PDA with Malini too previously (before realising his feelings for Imlie) and Imlie was his WIFE too back then. So where was this outrage then? Were these people okay with this because Malini wasn't the maid and had a suhagan look?

One more thing I wanted to mention is my reason for watching this show...I grew up watching Hrishikesh Mukherjee films and reading Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay books and I find the essence/spirit of those books and films in Imlie. Firstly, I just LOVE the childlike woman bringing a family closer together archetype that has been shown in many Hrishikesh Mukherjee films. And the Chattopadhay book that has characters that most reminds me of Adi-Imlie are Shekhar-Lalita in Parineeta. I know the basic premise and the characters themselves are completely different but those two also had that same deep & soulful connection that Adi-Imlie have. Lalita's love was devotional, like Imlie's. And Shekhar always felt possessive about Lalita from the start, taking a keen interest in everything related to her (even her upbringing) like Adi. These two also came from different socio-economic backgrounds but always felt an instinctual ease with each other that gradually grew into an all-consuming and soulful connection. This is where the comparison between them ends because Shekhar couldn't accept Lalita as his wife publically at first because of the difference in their social standing.😆 But my point still stands that their connection was similar to Adi-Imlie.😛 I just see the same depth of emotions being explored here in the Adi-Imlie pairing which ultimately makes me tune in as a viewer.

I really liked your post and agree with almost all your points...am a recent viewer of the show..I started seeing it because I liked one of the highlighted episodes..started watching mainly due to the excellent direction, acting of the leads and how the creatives have developed the adilie relation...their scenes were why I have binge watched the episodes in past week. I didnt even like Gashmeer prior to this...n m impressed with his range of acting.. I know there r dozens of shows with more than 500+ episodes...who lack in one or the other with even less moral compass ..watch it if you like it else don't.. simple!!

Agree 100% - the subtlety and lack of internal monologues that other shows are full off - is what is making a certain kind of viewer feel - the leads are thoughtless - in spite of them verbally acknowledging the contrary. And since that's exactly whats attracting me to this show - I don't know what to say. The need to explain every scene - so every intent is crystal clear to every viewer is so tiring. The shehed scene yesterday was so much more enjoyable - with everything that was left unsaid.

Agree with everything you said. Love your take on the show. Honestly, it just makes me sad for the state of itv, they’ve been showing surface level stuff spelled out for the audience for so long, the audience has forgotten how to analyse and critically consume stories. I guess that’s one of the reasons some people are having a hard time with this show. Hopefully, this show can make an example of how you successfully can create an intriguing story without ridiculous plotlines and over villainised characters.
