If they would have promoted 1 heroine is the protagonist with the other 2 heroines being supporting leads, and kept expectation clear, would have had only that targeted audience. That is what was there in YUDKBH. First they promote 3 then they sideline 2, that is what pisses off audience who get connected with those 2 on same or more level. Ab kare toh kya kare? Plus they forgot Partition violence for like 2-3 weeks even after themselves introducing the idea and skipped over 4 years

I thought YUDKBH had only 1 couple, the other 2 couples were supporting cast. Because they were not shown in any of the major promos. Though I didn't watch that show continuously.

Arey thats what I am saying. Since it was evident from the start that only Naina is protagonist, and not Preeti and Swati, audience had clear expectations, and did not expect the others to be shown more than required. Kept all competition at bay and they had a fairly beautiful journey as individual characters too for most of the show. For KUDCA, they promoted Amrit, Vashma and Radha as three separate protagonists and then elevated only Amrit, similar to how ShivOmRu were promoted in Ishqbaaaz initially and then Shivaay and his story with Annika took precedence. In both cases, yes, audience had too much expectation because they were led to believe that they will get all 3 protagonists 💔

Initially I was surprised when I saw them promoting this show as a tale of 3 women with 3 different problems. Lol alongwith Amdheer and Vashmay, they were even promoting Bridha as the third jodi of the show but they killed Brij's character way too early though I know he had become more annoying and intolerable. I knew that this is an itv show and they will start focusing on only one jodi and that's what happened. The main problem is the promotional strategy that they used initially. Gul made the same mistake with Ishqbaaz and now this show's makers also made the same one.

Agreed. I knew that the 1 hour slot was always for few months but the makers made us believe that it was because of the multiple leads. 9 pm slot was always the most competitive slot for the past few years. The last show which did well on Sony at 9 was Patiala Babes. Even Beyhadh 2 didn't perform well. But Beyhadh 1 did well in 2016. I still have a doubt that if YUDKBH wouldn't get the KBC boost, then initial trps would had been low. But it got viewers from KBC and content was good too, that's why it held the initial audience. Otherwise it's really difficult to increase the trp for Sony if initial ratings are not high.

I guess they planned Bridha story well before. If they wanted to make them an established couple, they would show gradual positivity in Brij's character. Still I think Radha's journey can be an interesting one after the leap.

Yeah I think BriDha were decided to be the third couple because they wanted to show married womens problems in those days through Radha . Brij was a typical MCP and a weak, timid person and I thought Radha will change him and bridge the gap between him and his son because dil se he was not bad but they butchered his character by showing him suspecting Radha and Uday and I think the makers decided to end his role for trps and probably to get a young guy onboard for Radha after the leap.

The one hour slot meant they had a fair chance to explore all 3 stories and in the first 20 episodes or so, they had shown some development in each pair, after that they changed the narrative with focus on only drama for trps sake, and that is where it started going downhill. Post that then they rushed for the shaadi that never happened and the Partition track, again not explored realistically for more than 2 episodes out of the 3.5 weeks spent on it, and now the leap.
