I know you didn't mean to be dismissive. But R.. Rajkumar is a mindless Prabhudeva masala flick with no subtlety whatsoever. Phata Poster is more self-aware. The jokes are very tongue-in-cheek and they cheerfully exploit all the familiar Bollwood tropes of the 70s -widowed mother who raises her son singlehandedly, the lazy hero who wants to come to Mumbai to be a star, reunion at the end with father etc. It's sort of like a homage to 70s like in Om Shanti Om. But the jokes aren't as funny.

I loved r rajkumar, mainly because of the songs, saree ka fall sa is still amazing to watch, and the dancing in Gandi baat amazing. as someone said shahid becomes his characters, as he did in r rajkumar and he had great chemistry with sonakshi. too bad shahid hasn't done more with prabhudeva yet, loved their dance talent.

phata poster, expected more, and didn't feel the chemistry between shahid and Ileana, but shahid was great in what he had, just it wasn't very funny.

again wish shahid did more movies like Akshay instead of putting all his hopes on one movie that rarely works for anyone except for Aamir in Bollywood.

Shahid shut all out of peoples mouth and his performance was outstanding- you may not like the movies story but u have to admit Shahid was top notch. He didn’t get much credit but who cares the audience loved him and gave him his highest grosser and thats what matters. Good he doesn’t kiss ass of dharma and yrf he doesn’t need them

Irrespective of how many BO hits Shahid Kapoor gives I doubt if he will ever get the tag of superstar.
