Why is Indian food in the west so expensive though? They are trying to make Indian cuisine some really fancy royal cuisine, yet in reality street food is the real Indian food
For cheap desi items I actually prefer going to Pakistani/Bangladeshi/Sri lankan places. Indians try too hard to make the same food so expensive.
Here where I live, you can't even get a Dosa or Biryani under $20.00 at a Indian restaurant.
A Pakistani place down the road sells really tasty biryani for $5 and for cheap good Dosa I usually go to Sri Lankan places
Same as Central London.
If you know where to go, (Drummond Street in Euston), you can get DELICIOUS and AUTHENTIC food for a fraction of the cost, that area has amazing Indian and Pakistani eateries. My mouth is watering already(!!!)
It’s a fact in western countries all sort of desi foods are expensive. In Australia I used to pay around 25 dollars for a plate of chana and 2 puris. One can easily do loads of basic grocery in 25 dollars.
Her business skills is something I look upto.🤩🤩. Hope one day main bhi paise aur dimaag se paisa banaungi🤞♥️

Pakistani and Bangladeshi restaurants name their food businesses as Indian cuisine always here in USA.
And you get all types of Indian food here. Cheap and expensive both. I live in North east America. Have lived from NY to PA. Have eaten at all known Indian restaurants. Stop putting your 2 rupees experience as the only viable.
Tum lagta hai rehte Zumri talaiya mein ho.. Aur bol rahe ho USA. 🤣
Indian resturants here just serve bland white washed expensive version of Indian food, its not even authentic at all.
Restaurants can’t survive only on Indian customers. Indians don’t eat out everyday. Even for lunch in offices, most Indians get lunch from home at least for 2 days a week.
Restaurants have to cater to all kinds of customers. They even have mild to spicy versions.
Menu in most Indian restaurants have different region popular items. Speciality cuisines (Malayali, Gujarati, Etc) are very rare and you can find them only in cities with higher population of these groups.
PC does it again 👏 She's a boss!

Maybe where you lived had more Pakistani restaurants than Indian. Cause where I live, indian buffet was $8-$9 per head vs Pakistan buffet starting at $16 per head.
Also where were you getting $5 biryani... I couldn’t even find chana chat for under $8 😜
I live in Toronto now. All the Pakistani places have cheap biryani, many for 5$. Indian places start at 18-20$ for biryani

Drummond Street is most definitely not what it used to be. The dosas there are God awful, which I guess i’m not surprised about cos it changed ownership to Bangladeshi guys and chefs years ago. It’s not authentic at all and for the prices they charge, that dosa is really bad. Man, they couldn’t even get a basic ass coconut chutney right. Says a lot when most of the customers are gore. Really though, they should learn from Saravana Bhavana. These guys have branches all over the world and whether Malaysia, Singapore or London, I’ve never had a bad experience.

Where is Drummond Street? I have been to London only once and was there just 4 days so didn't explore a lot...so is it close to Southhall?? Our cab Driver took us on a street near by and it was full of desi eateries...we even got some food packed to take it back to our hotel and it was so yummmm ..since we didn't have time to sit and eat....I am now wondering if it was Drummond Street??
