I’m thrilled to present to you SONA, a new restaurant in NYC that I poured my love for Indian food into. SONA is the very embodiment of timeless India and the flavours I grew up with.(1/4)

The kitchen is helmed by the incredible Chef #HariNayak, a masterful talent, who has created the most delicious and innovative menu, taking you on a food journey through my amazing country. SONA is opening later this month, and I can’t wait to see you there!(2/4)

This endeavour would not have been possible without the leadership of my friends @mkgoyal

and #DavidRabin. Thank you to our designer #MelissaBowers and the rest of the team for realizing this vision so clearly.(3/4)

The second and third photos were taken in September 2019 when we performed a small intimate Puja (prayer ceremony) to bless the space that would soon become #sonanewyork Godspeed!(4/4)

Good luck Priyanka👍🏼

Why is Indian food in the west so expensive though? They are trying to make Indian cuisine some really fancy royal cuisine, yet in reality street food is the real Indian food

For cheap desi items I actually prefer going to Pakistani/Bangladeshi/Sri lankan places. Indians try too hard to make the same food so expensive.

Here where I live, you can't even get a Dosa or Biryani under $20.00 at a Indian restaurant.

A Pakistani place down the road sells really tasty biryani for $5 and for cheap good Dosa I usually go to Sri Lankan places

Food industry is called service industry for a reason. The price that we pay is not for the food but for the kind of service we get. The same food we can cook at home for a fraction of cost, even cheaper than the street food. no?

But there is a serious lack of Cheap Indian places here in the west and I have been to most of the major cities here in North America. Usually, other communities (Chinese) for example have all kinds of restaurants ranging from cheap to expensive. Indians only charge a lot for their food and in fact their service is still bad. So no, you are not paying for the service.

I have eaten Indian food ranging from $3.95 a piece. Depends on the place, supply and demand also. You can’t just be comparing apples and oranges.

I want a Malayali place in NYC. Right now, you have to go all the way to Long Island.

They can simply say it's Indian. How are the Americans gonna know there are diff kinds of Indian?😆
