What I find the most hateful is dadi saying yeh tumahari Nahi tumhare surat Ka keemat hai. What on earth do they think of themselves. There is no change in these Goenkas, they were this self obsessed, bragging, selfish and bigheaded show off when they were introduced and they are still that. And I don't think every rich family is shown like this on Indian TV shows.

Look, i'm not going to get into economics with you IF lmao, but you should look at counter arguments for why it's not truly a socialist country but rather mistaken for one. LOL dude, the Indian constitution was literally amended to add in references to socialism. India is considered an economically socialist country by almost all global standards. Plus, even our right-wing political parties fiscally lean towards socialism.

Anyway.. India is far far away from capitalism. We might love an Ambani for his rags to riches story. But businesses are punished at every step by our economic policies & every step towards progress of protested against.

Before Karan Johar started making movies, almost every other movie romanticised poverty & showed the rich in poor light (villain in action-drama movies, dysfunctional comic relief in comic movies). Barjatya's & Yash Chopra have been those very few old-time filmmakers who didn't use wealth & vanity as negative traits. Watch ITV even today.. Every other show has a poorer, morally upright lead whose job is to 'correct' the rich, messed up lead & their family.
