Not Pakistan. Bollywood movies are full of Punjab and its culture. I blame it on the success of HAHK and YRF films.

In the 60s, it was all hill state culture.

BW gravitates toward what's proven to make money.

Plus, it helps that a large chunk of BWers are of Punjabi ethnicity. They relate to it, so it's easier for them to tell the stories.

If you sit for hours and think and think really hard, you can come up with two variables that might not be related at all and still manage to establish an association between the two with your sheer willpower.

By Oriented I mean on purpose creating appealing content for Pakistan and Pakistani culture. The only part of India that shares culture with Pakistan is North west part of India, places like Punjab, Delhi some western UP areas where Urdu is spoken. But 80% of India does not share culture with Pakistan, in fact it is very different. Bollywood seems to be bent on only creating appealing movies for this cultural zone only.

If Bollywood was based in Delhi or Some where in Punjab, then it would make sense I guess, but it is based in Mumbai, where Marathi is the majority language, and Bollywood is suppose to be all India encompassing anyways, but that is hardly the truth. Bollywood is mainly Punjabi and Urdu dominated, which = Pakistan basically

Ur trolling right? By that logic shouldn't Indians say that Pakistanis look similar to Indians since its a newer country?! 🤓

Are u forgetting that there was no Pakistan before 1947? We are basically the same DNA and genetics wise. If tested an Indian Kashmiri, Punjabi, Himachali, Uttrakhandi will share similar DNA to those on the Pakistani side. Hell even many South Indians whose forefathers migrated from North to South a long time ago will share similarities genetics wise, even if they have more Southernised names now.

Urdu was born and developed in India way before Pakistan existed and it shares more similarities to Hindi, which developed from Sanskrit. If we did films in only Hindi you would understand it, just like we understand Urdu.

And about Bollywood families being from Pakistan: Mehdi Hassan, Liaqat Ali Khan, Pervez Mussharaf were all born in India because there were no two countries before 1947, it was all India.

Pakistan's culture is also taken from India because we were ONE COUNTRY. Other than religion beliefs don't we have everything in common?

India's biggest female actors: Sridevi (Telugu), Madhuri Dixit (Maharashtrian), Kajol and Rani Mukherjee (Bengalis), Deepika Padukone (Konkani) and Priyanka Chopra (Punjabi). If that isn't diversity idk what is.

Each region in India has its own cinema but Bollywood is still dominating major markets, barring South. And even South Indian films are not overly representative, had they been made in Hindi they could easily pass off as Bollywood. A regional language done film would not be watched by major Indians because each state hs it sown language and the entire country does not speak it; wouldn't Pakistanis have the same problem if the films were made in Balochi or Pashto?

Imma just gonna leave this map of British India here:

Like I said, only sections of north west India share culture, dna with Pakistan. Rest of India is actually pretty different in everything. In India, Bollywood is only for North west Indians, which are not even 10% of India's overall population.

Oh, dear God. Do you realize people from Punjab shed blood over the fight to stay in India? How many were displaced in that partition?

I dislike the fact Punjabi culture dominates to the exclusion of most everything else, but that's because most of BW has roots in Punjab. Why would you then turn around and insult the same people who went through hell to stay a part of India by essentially calling them Pakistanis?

This is the most absurd thing I've heard. The most relatable content based on cultural impact is what's popular in India and that is Bollywood. Indians share many cultural aspects except few which are regional based. North East Seven Sisters is probably the only region not covered by Bollywood.

Urdu might make up most of Pakistan but its an India-born language, its phonetics are imbibed in Hindi.

Bollywood doesn't need to cater to the audience. We do have Punjabi film families and that has nothing to do with catering to Pakistan.

Indian content from all industries has begun catering to the entire country, be it South, Marathi etc...if it were only North restricted, films like Baahubali, KGF and Saaho wouldn't do so well Pan-India.
