It doesn't make sense that he leaves rani after tearing the letter without telling her. A letter is better than no letter at all.

100% agree. Everytime he thinks about leaving he gets all worked up. But when it came to deciding he is staying with her. He was cool and content with the decision. He looked ready for anytbing.

It didn't look like an attempt to unite the couple.

Unless Veer ends up confessing the truth in front of everyone Birju will become a negative character. He is going to be rejected by his own people. Birju and Ranis friendship will end. I doubt he will stay positive after all that.

Just like I said about the kabbadi symbolism- His stupidity and recklessness behaviour will throw him out of the game of love.
