Unfortunatly at this point Rehman and Sonu Nigam were not on good terms else it was a Sonu kind of song and could hve been something else with his expressive vocals which could compliment Shreya

Saans begins with an intense violin orchestra and alaaps – a great opening. But the first thing you feel when you listen to the romantic number is that the lyrics could have been more creative. Saans me teri saans mili to mujhe saans ayi mujhe saans ayi is no great shakes. And the notes of Saans are very close to Do pal ruka from Veer Zara. It is Shreya Ghosal’s song through and through. Without any offence to Mohit Chauhan, she overshadows the male voice completely. There’s a constant violin symphony, with bagpipes making an appearance in the second stanza, which is the standout piece of the song.

“Saans” has all the hallmarks of a Yash Chopra song! The composition is rich, melodious and high on emotions so expect it to make a strong impact on screen. Rahman’s use of the cello and beats is effective but it’s also reminiscent of his music for Yuvvraaj and consequently you feel he’s either picked a song not used in that soundtrack or he’s been stifled by Yash Ji’s insistence on having traditional melody. To satisfy these requirements Rahman uses percussions and his favourite flute artist (Naveen Kumar) who provides a nice piece in the interlude. The end results are positive but the wow factor is missing. As expected Shreya Ghoshal helps elevate the song to a different level with strong vocals but she is let down by her singing partner Mohit Chauhan who struggles to keep up the high standard. I know he’s a favourite of Rahman but why Sonu Nigam wasn’t utilised is baffling, even more so given that it’s a Yash Chopra film. Gulzar's lines are intense and very romantic. Overall this is a decent effort and will probably turn out to be a hit especially on the big screen but memorable? Get real folks. Incidentally “Saans Reprise” is a solo that arrives later in the album and has some nice percussions for those interested.

Katrina's acting in this reprise version of the Saans song is simply flawless, especially towards the end.
It's a gorgeous song- so passionate. I hated it when I first heard it but its really grown on me through the years- and Mohit was perfect. Sonu is obviously more talented but this song needed Mohit's "sleepy" but passionate voice imho.
that was acting 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣Originally posted by: heartbleed

Maybe it was just me something but about SRK and Katrina doing romance didn't seem.... right??
Kat was wooden and trying too hard to act, and SRK looked weird trying to be play his 90s wala romantic hero.... except he looked creepy this time around.
I almost laughed at a few supposedly "emotional" scenes from this film.
On topic, Sonu would've nailed this song.😳👍🏼

No wonder Akshaye not interested in Bollywood. Aamir khan is a very selfish actor and a fake friend....
