Badhai Ho was a full-on entertainer with many light-hearted moments as well as emotional ones.

But do you think the success of the movie points to a progressive mindset in the Indian audience? Are they more open to discussing taboo topics?

Or are they more open to these topics only when they come under the garb of a comedy? Is the success of the movie an indication of society becoming more broad-minded?

So your asking if couples want to have 30 year old kids and then turn around and have newborns ?

Maybe that explains why my parents door is locked right now 😆

No No my question is: it existed, fine, but not talked about openly.

Did the movie's success prove that taboo topics work only under the guise of a comedy?

Can they make a drama version of this plot ? I’m sure but I doubt most people would care. It would like one of them art films that I have zero use for 😆

Firstly old age pregnancy isn't exactly a taboo as it was shown in Badhai Ho.

And secondly most of the taboo topics work because of comic factor, and not because the people watching are suddenly progressive. A regressive person doesn't become progressive by watching a movie. Or a progressive person automatically support Ayushmann movies, because I have seen many "so called progressive" people complaining in social media about the lack of screentime for female, not deeply discussing the issues and now the mocking of the issue is naturalized, and so on. While I obviously I don't agree with those crybabies, but it just shows that these movies aren't a success because of the shock value of the topic alone, but mostly because they are a brand of entertainment, which generally guarantees fun and laughter. That is why SMZS flopped, because it was a boring ass movie, nowhere as good as Ayushmann's other movies.

Taboo topics do work, but story is key. Pink was a taboo topic, but it was a well made drama and worked.

End point is, message shouldn't be the story, there should be a story with message. And everything works. Sometimes, the filmmakers make message the story, and hence the movie flops and than they cry about how audience is regressive and so on, which IMO is absolutely wrong.

Every member of the audience, has different mindset, but majority prefer entertainment over anything.

It is horrible and outdated concept and not needed when India’s population is growing so rapidly..

older couple can enjoy the bliss.. doesn’t mean they need children at this age.

My son is above 20 and I can not imagine to put him in that situation or myself in that situation.

I have no clue why the movie worked
