Epilogue
"That's how much he loves me, he would always roam around like a puppy! You know what children, right from my school days I knew he was meant to be mine, 'Taare ki tukda ho tum' was how he used to address me" Geet said adjusting her sweater and spectacles.
"What??!!!? When have I ever called you that? Baccho, don’t listen to her! She used to be so golu molu that I used to tease her by saying ‘Taara ko kha sakti ho tum’, the ‘Taara’ here is Naintara…I can’t believe you are telling the kids all these” he turned towards Geet squinting his eyes in suspicion.
“Arre baba! You have forgotten everything, hota hai, hota hai, budhape me aisa hona expected hai!” she said trying to muffle her laughter.
The kids laughed wholeheartedly, Maan eyed his Geet, she gave him a quick wink and joined the kids in their laughter.
“This girl hasn’t changed one bit” he smiled.
The wrinkles near their eyes not only indicated that many years had passed by, but also indicated the laughs they shared through-out those years.
“A lot of time had passed indeed!” Maan thought “Dadima was no longer with them, it had been 2 decades since her demise but her warmth was never missed! Dev and Tara had 3 kids, Maan and Geet had 2! Years had flown by so soon that no one knew how their children who could barely walk without falling around had grown up and now they all have their own kids!”
“Yup! That’s right!” Maan thought “We’re old now, O…L…D…!!!”
The kids had moved out but the 4 of them had stayed back at the Khurana Mansion, right now spoiling their grandchildren whenever they stayed over without thinking twice!
Maan leaned over to see that his wife and grandkids were now joined by Dev and Tara and their story telling session seemed to be continuing.
“Surely those 2 have joined in on Geet’s bizzare stories” he thought smiling slightly, “Okay kids! Enough on how googly eyed I was for your granny, now let me tell you all about your Geetu granny” he said walking towards them to which all kids chimed a unanimous ‘oooooooooo’.
Now it was Maan’s turn to give a quick wink at his Geet, whose mouth had turned into a big ‘O’!😲
“Just like old times!” he thought smiling and sat next to her.
