Tbh I think the whole superstar term is now reduntant with new age audience. Earlier the Khans , Madhuri, Sridevi etc were superstars because people would watch them in anything. Even in the most horrible films. Same with the Khans even till a few years ago but right now, the whole 'superstar concept' is a PR created image. Generally a superstar is someone who will guarantee a terrific opening irrespective of what the film and how it is. Fortunately the audience has matured and they aren't taking shit and will only go to watch a film is they get a good story along with the star. Both are important and starpower alone can't guarantee anything. And that's why none of the current actors and actresses have any superstardom and hence pay so much to their management to create an image like that through their PR.
This year in itself has shown how important PR is for these actors to keep their image alive in the audience's mind. None of the superstars had any releases this year and they were all forgotten unless they did something trending on social media. 2020 pretty much summed up how overhyped all these so called new age superstars are.
