I agree with you. 😊 I think dramas are mirror of the society. Focussing in one part of a woman's life isn't good. Because women have many things to do in their lives a part from marriage. I felt happy watching Ehd E Wafa , because Dua completed her studies first, then got married.. and had a job. Just like many women in our society which their lives have many aspects. I feel disappointed when they show that a girl has to give up on her studies to get married, or can't continue her job after marriage. Most of Pakistani dramas show that women have to stay at home after marriage. Dramas like Ehd E Wafa , Kashf and Tajdeed E Wafa are rare. 😒

Most of drama viewers are housewives. Drama makers care about TRPs only, that's why they build dramas on married life. 😔 To plz the majority of viewers they show the minority in bad light , like sisters in law , modern girls , or even working ladies.😒

Yeah.. Producers needs to cater to their target audience which in this case are housewives. Older men have very lil interest in drama, their focus is 24x7 news (at least that's how my dad/uncles are😂) and younger generation has OTT platforms where they can get whatever they want. So TV is left alone for ladies at home specifically stay-at-home moms or non-working women. They feel connected to these gharelu concepts, closer to their life experiences.

Have you seen the drama Besharam starring Zahid and Saba? I loved the drama, performances and their sizzling chemistry. But i couldn't understand why everyone in that story was looking down on Michelle/Mishal 's career as a supermodel. And why she herself had an outlook that her career isn't respectable. And i guess end mein she quits modeling to be with her husband. 🙄

Of all the Pakistani dramas i have watched, zindagi gulzar hai hands down has the best representation of unmarried women and unmarried women's mother. Wish more such strong female characters were written.

I hate the self-pitying leads who eventually make happy marriage out of forced marriages. Basically most of the recent Faysal qureshi dramas. 😂😂

Can we also talk about how almost always the modern girl who wears pant suits is the vamp eying on a man who will fall in love with seedhi saadhi ethnic dress wearing girl. 😂 Good way to reinforce the stereotype that women who choose to dress in a modern fashion equates to "too modern" and selfish with lil to no morals.. And who will go to any lengths to hurt the masoom heroine who by the way is the epitome of culture, values and "tarbiyat". Who is like a cow.. Jis koonte se maa baap ne bandh diya, bina kisi complaints ke wahin pe reh ka sabka dil jeet legi. 🙆‍♀️

Besharam is my all time fav Pakistani drama. I loved Mishal's character. I enjoyed waching how she dealed with Haidar .. but I agree with you. This drama could've left a better impact in society had it showed Haidar respecting Mishal's job. Or at least that Mishal quit modelling because modelling has a short life, so she went for designing instead.😊 He married her knowing that she was a model. If he didn't agree to it he shouldn't marry her at the first place. But I loved how they exposed some of the political parties .

Even in ZGH a modern girl was kicked out of the lead's life , for the desi girl. 😆 I loved watching Shanakht too.. because it represented the muslim women of today, who follow Islamic roles, and keep working. Also the modern girl was accepted by her in laws in the end. 😃

There were progressive dramas made earlier. But now typical dramas rule. 😒 I hope we see more good content dramas in future. It is necessery to improve how the society look at unmarried and working ladies.😊

Oh yeah... Now that u reminded me Zaroon's side of family was messed up. Again the same stereotype - women who wear modern clothes are difficult to adjust post marriage, or moms who work outside are to be blamed if kids don't turn out good enough. Zaroon was enough MCP himself. He wanted to marry Kashaf because he thought he was better than her in some ways to ensure his male eho and complexes do not get triggered, didn't he? 😒

I remember i had started Shanakht but stopped soon after because i couldn't connect with the religious aspects and all that follows with it. Same with Sheher-e-zaad.

Nt to mention i skip Maya Ali dramas usually because i find it very difficult to overlook her lisp.

I also do not understand the rave reviews Durre Shehwar receives. The story was so regressive....encouraging women to endure abusive marriages. The performances from the actors were brilliant no doubt but the messaging was so problematic.

@red. I failed to understand why he wanted to marry her.smiley36 I couldn't believe that he fell in love with her. smiley16 but your thoughts are scary.smiley34 What if that was true!smiley3

As for showing working ladies as failed mothers it is also disappointing. smiley6 Daasi has a similer mother too. smiley24 Those highclass buisnesswomen and their standards..smiley44 I am glad that there are also good examples in few dramas like: Amanat , and Dulhan (it is still running ) .

I know Shanakht might not be relatable for a non muslim. But I loved watching the second half , and you'd loved it if you kept watching.. only because the religious couple weren't shown judging others ..they were working and helping others. I too don't like Maya..I had to push myself to watch it , coz I have a crush on Noor Hassan.smiley9 But it turned out to be good.smiley1

I didn't watch Shehre Zaat or Durre Shehwar. 😳 although I like watching religious dramas. But I usually skip depressing ones.😃
