As SH once said, and I am quoting him/her:

"Despite their success - even some massive successes, I still feel like no one really cares about them.

They’re doing well but there is no hype or heavy public interest.

their success is much different than say a Ranbir or Kangana. When a Ranbir strikes all chords he delivers a Sanju..... when a Kangana delivers she gives us Queen or TWNR. Their good work goes viral , everyone goes crazy and everyone is so damn appreciative .

I don’t see that kind of hysteria or appreciation with Alu and Ayu. Despite doing everything right and hitting bullseye - phir bhi kuch kami hai.

Ayushman-Alia don’t have that kind of registration with the public. Alia and Ayushman win lots of awards and get a lot of media recognition...... but the respect isn’t there. Even when they do good.... nobody TRULY cares

Despite having the perfect cocktail, nobody seems to wanna drink it."

They are the two best examples of today's generation and what they prefer. Neither of them mass hysteria or vociferous fans, but what I get is that there is an innate belief in these two and the content they do. There is a confidence they will come up with good content. I don't know how else to label them. They both have the neutral audience hooked.

On the other hand, people like Deepika and Salman enjoy loud fans, I think these two have the most ardent fandoms, but in terms of neutral audience, they fall behind.

This neutral audience, I suspect, is growing bigger and bigger and the key to captivating or engaging this audience lies in the hands of those who are smart and strategic enough to carve a niche for themselves. Alia and Ayushmann are both strategic enough, there is no craze around them, but they have box-office pull.

They are following in the footsteps of Aamir.

The success you are talking about, the out of the stadium hit is supposed to be coming to the script writers. They are the ones who gets these out of the box stories.

With a full fraternity portraying Alia Bhatt as some Goddess of acting and generating a stardom that isn't organic the lack of hype that you are talking about is rightly not there. Alia is good as long as a script is made keeping in mind her lack and plus otherwise Kalank and Sadak2 like movies are a disaster on her appeal.

Ayushman I feel might actually feel the bottom of the vessel soon if he doesn't do something different. The same rom-com on socia-human issues is going to be one note and might not attract audience now. Though rightly Article 15 deserved a lot more accolades in his kitty. The man showed he could do something other than his usual.

Don't put Alia and Ayushmann together. One has catered stardom while the other has worked his ass off to get where he is today.

The points you stated are true for Alia. No one really respected her work, we all knew she was getting films on platter until it became public knowledge during lockdown. So ya, she is easily replaceable and no one would honestly care.

But Ayushmann has create such a niche for himself that people would go watch the film coz he starred in it. After Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho, he not only amassed huge popularity but people wouldn't even watch the trailer, directly go to film coz Ayushmann was in it. I have onlt seen this happening with Ranveer in recent times.

Ayushmann has been one of the most relatable actors in recent times. Netizens love him, kids love him, hell even uncle aunties love him as an actor and a family man. He has also improved alot and I hope to see him doing more good work in the future.

I don't think they are one of a kind. I think they fit in with their time. Mass hysteria rarely centers around a person anymore unless they do something terrible. Bhai fans are a "special" case simply because everyone wonders how devoted blind fans still exist.

Alia is a typical star kid. For me she is somewhere between a Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor. Media, Kjo, good PR made sure she was this generation's IT girl. She has won more than enough awards where the industry treats her like a super talented star. She is their darling without a doubt. So she does have their respect. She gets the best movies, she gets the best awards, she gets paid more than any other actress currently, she gets the big endorsements. The only thing one of a kind about her is how young she is and how little she had to struggle to find her footing. She has been a success since pretty much day 1.

Ayushmann doesn't live in the same world as her. Not in terms of fans, luck or respect. Yes he finally won awards but he knows 1-2 wrong moves and he is gone. Nothing was handed to him either, nothing came easy. Lots of failures got him here. If he is a success today it is mainly because of his hustle, and the fans who enjoyed his movies.

His #2-#4 films were a below average, flop, & disaster. He went between 2012 and 2018 (#1 and #10) without a clean hit ( #5-#9 - 2 averages, 2 semi hits and 1 flop) . Then with #10 Andhadhun he got his second big boost an hit his stride. His first movie being a hit gave him a lot of rope and goodwill. He also got a bit of luck from all the actors - including Varun - who turned down Andhadhun. He's in a far better position now than he was after his first film and some failure didn't kill his career then, it would take far more than that to kill it now.

I think thats apt more so for Deepika. Deepika has fizzled in thin air. Alia may not have a loyal fandom but shes the most popular face in India today.
