Yes, as a viewer, I feel Bani is a weak character. She has no shades. None of her shades have been explored. Her strengths haven't been explored. What she can and cannot do as Adi Naagin hasn't been explored. She is the heroine. In ITV, people always connect with the heroine. Because that is how it works. Uske kahaani se emotions ko joda jaata hai, uske liye achcha lagna, uske liye bura lagna, uske liye dukhi hona, uske liye khush hona. People invest their emotions with heroines. Heroes have never been given that value or haven't been as important as the heroine. And going by recent trends, very few male characters are written well. Be it a Shivraj Shekhar of Baalika Vadhu, be it Ishaan Kashyap of Sasural Genda Phool, be it Hanuman Singh of Patiala Babes. Very rarely we have seen a good portrayal of men. Because we always connect with the heroine.

But I don't feel any connection for the heroine. I don't feel emotions for Bani, I don't feel bad or sad, or happy or anything for her. And that is bad writing. The time these people have invested in creating a layered grey shaded character like Veeranshu, they haven't done that for Bani. They haven't done justice to the supporting cast either, which is much better than other seasons.

Bani is a monotone, one shaded character because she has been written that way. I am no Naagin expert, but I have followed Season 1 and Shivanya was an amazing and convincing Naagin. And this isn't the cast or the actor's fault, it's the maker's fault. Bani looks good with Veeranshu no doubt, but individually, I am sorry she doesn't. And the Cheels and Veeranshu together are very entertaining, and I don't need Bani to see them, I can see them as they are. But they too have been kept underutilized.

This is my opinion. You are open to critique it. We can agree to disagree, I don't mind. But I stand by it as well.

👏👍🏼

I have myself defended Bani at several instances but it does change the actuality that she is a poorly written character.

The major reason for people comparing Bani and Veer (which I don't) is because of range of emotions portrayed. Veer wears his heart on a sleeve, the emotion in his eyes is in his actions. Bani, on the other hand, doesn't exactly portray that. Some days she's going to go to lengths to defend Veer and then threaten to keep him in danger the next. Bani's personal emotions are just as hidden as her powers. That is the problem.

This series was supposed to be about Naagin. But the highlights of this season are cheels. Why? Because Naagin herself isn't acting much. Her character could have potential and let's not talk about Surbhi because Gods, she's talented and can portray Bani amazingly, only that the writing needs to be sharpened. If Bani can express her hatred then what is the issue with expressing herself to those she can afford to be vulnerable to (like Meera)

I've defended Bani but truth is that Bani's a character that's got more flaws than strengths. This is ITV. Most people who watch ITV are women and women relate more to women than men. Rarely do we find male characters that are well written for people to root for.

When Veer used to do the same things (like actually going around her all the time, disturbing her and not letting her go) they called it Deewangi. Now, he does the same things as a husband by not giving up, they're calling him joru ka gulam and stuff. Backing up is needed to give her space but he's not giving up on her because he doesn't want to. Obsessive word means that you can't give up on it. Anyway. I admire Veer for his patience and all. Veer does have faults but his strengths are highlight well enough for them to be just flaws.

Bani's character highlights her flaws rather than her weakness. I have noticed, Bani is the strongest when her emotions are at par. Like when she thought Jay was killed, she gave the wounded tiger kind of aura. You know she's going to strike. You feel off that fear. Same was from Nageshwari. Then you suddenly change her from that to this is what inconsistency is.

Anyway... signing off. I still do have a soft spot for Bani but I'm going to admit the truth that Bani's a flawed character which needs to be worked on. The series is identified with their female lead (majorly just with her).

So true!! The makers have not worked on Bani’s character at all. When she is supposed to console Veer and display her feelings she ends up blowing up and giving Naagin glares. What the hell? Even Bela wasn’t this thick headed.

Exactly, and I have no problem with the actor. Surbhi is doing her job right, which is why we are so miffed and detached from Bani, to whom we should ideally be attached. I mean this blowing hot and cold consistently is a major turn-off for a certain section of viewers. And honestly, I don't need Bani to enjoy watching Veeranshu or the Cheels, or even Jai for that matter. To contrast Bani's borderline aggression, Cheels and Veeranshu provide the much-needed relief.

Audience views overall, and fans, well they only see their favorite actor, who is portraying a character, who hasn't done shit till now, without support or help. They don't watch the character, only the actor. Kyunki Surbhi ka jo character hai Bani, woh itni useless hai, itni bekaar hai ki usko akele bardaash karna kisi ke bas ki baat nahi. Usko tolerate sirf Veeranshu and Jai ke presence ke kaaran kiya jaata hai.

Jitna achcha Veeranshu ka character graph hai jiske itne shades hai, utna hi achcha Jai aajkal as grey and villain lagta hai, chahe me usse jitna bhi abuse karu, because woh kisi kaam ka to hai.

Bani to khud akele kuch nahi kar paati, kabhi Veeranshu aata hai, kabhi Shivji aate hai, to kyun banaya hai isko Naagin, agar isko kuch karna hi nahi hai. Visiting Twitter and witnessing the filth these people engage in, it's not my cup of tea. Bani is a weakly written and shitty character, nothing can save it. Surbhi fandom can howl their lungs out, but Bani is bad news. The only saving grace has been her chemistry with Veeranshu, and Veeranshu overall, and thank the other Cheels, for making this season bearable.

Satya Vachan ! Mujhe toh Brinda bhi Bani se better lagti hai. Bani is a colossal failure as the lead Naagin in the entire series till now.

I did not get the word in the last line. Was it var or waqt, could not get it.

Woh Var tha..

And it's gantha in the end. Not haar..

I m sure Markat nahi maregi

Truly, she could have been written much better than all Naagins. Probably they could have shown her as some immortal like a vampire, cursed to be alive for 10,000 divya varsh instead of dying and being an aatma. She has been waiting for the rest to be reincarnated to again live the story that happened in Satyug. It could have been a building point of her character. You know, she would have been a powerful character in complete control of her powers and complete knowledge of her enemies, of her weaknesses and strengths, would have been a warrior who is sharp and astute yet has poise and grace and compassion. It could have added so much more depth to her character. You know people cling to the heroine, and if you cannot connect, boss it is a major failure in writing.

If you ask me, Even Nageshwari wasn’t this aggressive. Pata nahi Why Bani keeps blowing up all the time.

Forget showing her emotions where they are needed, she ends up manipulating Veer for her own agenda. I mean I understand that Markaat is her enemy, but still she directly went and asked Veer to side with her to kill his own mother, that is so wrong. I mean atleast give the guy some time or prove to him why she is right about Markaat.

Then this inconsistency about her doing Tandav for him and then the next day she is like she feels nothing for him, then is Tandav a joke to her? Why did she do the Tandav? Her character kinda sucks and yes people on ITV mostly relate to female lead, even if the Male lead is awesome and well written, if the female lead sucks then it all goes down the drain.

Even her revenge motive is kinda lame, like seriously she is targeting the cheels for Noor, her Satyug tragedy and Jay who isn’t even dead? She came to know that Jay wanted to kill her but she is very lenient with him? Why? How many times did Bani even mention Noor or feel sorry for her? Did she even carry out her plan of executing her so called revenge for Noor against the cheels? She is such a scatterbrained character. She lacks focus.
