Sorry for me he looked a little hypocrite here, he never trusted her (painting burning,black glove,yellow glove, mom poisoning) he didn't even let her prove her innocence most of the time. He wants her to trust him but didn't trust her completely.
I feel he's not reluctant to share his past, he just wants to forget about it. Riddhima did try to tell him about her past twice but he didn't let her do that. I personally feel she should have told him by moving out of her comfort zone or by any other way coz her past is not just a past but a kind of betrayal mixed with it too
The painting burning is a very touchy subject. It was his mother's after all. He had completely lost his mind as he saw it burn, and when he saw Riddhima with that kerosene, he just unleashed all his anger onto her. For the other incidents, Riddhima would point fingers onto his family. I know that she's right, but Vansh would refuse to believe her cuz at the end of the day, they are his family. Especially Anupriya. He has a special love and consideration for her since she took his place and gave him everything that his own mother couldn't. If he can't trust his own family, the woman whom he considers his mother, then who can he trust?
What he doesn't understand is that Riddhima's past isn't the same as his. His past may be filled with a string of girlfriends that he no longer wishes to remember, but that's not the case with Riddhima. Riddhima's past isn't in the past, it's in her present, and has heavy impacts on her future. She should have insisted on telling him the truth, especially the night before KC. Woh kaafi ache mood mein tha. 😆

I'm not talking about the trust for his mother but the lack of trust/mistrust for his wife.

One thing really bothers me, though.
When Riddhima realized that she had unfairly accused Vansh about the portrait, she apologized to him right away.
But when Vansh learnt that she was only taking the blame for his beloved stepmom, and he had unfairly burnt Riddhima's belongings...why did he not apologize about it?
