Just use good quality products and take care of ur hair! Hectic lives can generally take a toll on curly hair since its not the easiest to manage...you do need alot of time on hand š even i stick to straightening if my waved behave weird lol. Normally they are like California beach waves but sometimes...irgh so frustrating!
Thank you for sharing your story!! Its really helpful! I am glad that the woman is okay. Gosh Indians can be so terrible about complexion. I've known this saas who used to chose her older bahu coz she was super fair (like the Kapoors)...but her younger bahu was the actual gorgeous one. She looked very similar to Deepika when DP had debuted, same caramel complexion and actual green eyes. But the saas would always say teri aankhein achi lagti agar tu gori hoti. Poor girl wore dark coloured lenses and only regained her confidence when her husband decided they should move out. India mein toh gorapan is the definition of beauty.
Mere khud ke saath hua hai. I was a tan child and have a fuller nose...abhi toh those mohalle wali aunties call me pretty or whatever, but as a child they'd always chose this one very fair girl over the rest of us who was average at best. Not trying to put that girl down but I hope you know what I am saying. My complexion defined my beauty. Surprisingly when a European had come to stay in our complex (I think she was on a work transfer visa or something), she found the rest of us stunning. Never made the fairest one feel bad...but I could see she was looking at our features, not complexion.
Skin lightening treatments that affect ur melanin levels can actually cause skin cancer. The follow up after those treatments is insane. Generally companies like Clinique have tan removal soaps for adult skin... I've heard that helps. Or else laser. I am thinking about it but nothing for certain. Coz quarantine mein indoors rehte hi clear ho gaya hai kaafi...in fact I think I have to go with a lighter foundation again šš
Yesss exactly... Iām envious of girls with silky straight hair ngl... they can literally just do whatever they want with it whenever! And if they want to curl it thatās much easier for them than straightening is for wavy or curly haired girl likes us! šš½āāļøš
And yep unfortunately to many Indians fairness = beauty and beautiful = fair... And it would be unfair to say itās just Indians or even just Desis! Literally all colonised countries have this ideal... from Africa to Korea to South America to the Caribbean... all seem to think lighter skin always looks better... I wonder if these people really think people like Alia and Parineeti look better than Priyanka Chopra or Rekha šš I wanna know how strong that colonised mindset is lmao š
And itās a shame that girlās saas made her wear contacts as light eyes on darker skin is beautifully striking imo... she sounds stunning and must have got lots of compliments once she moved abroad!
Yeah when we were younger relatives and stuff used to question Iām disappointed tones why me and my sister were wheatish when our parents are fair... so cringey š£
But thereās pretty much no escaping cringey comments in this matter in desi society š... now that Iāve got lighter with age people are always like āWhat!?, youāre South Indian?! No wayyy youāre so fairā and they say it in a way making it clear they think fair is obviously superior to dark š£š£
The history of colonisation has brainwashed literally most of the world into thinking like this sadly š
Didnāt know that such treatments could cause cancer too, but it makes sense because youāre not supposed to mess with your skin cells too much in any way...
Things like face washes should be absolutely fine, as they are not invasive at all, and Clinique is known to be good (never tried their products as theyāre a bit too expensive haha)... laser should be fine too but itās always best to triple check everything and research it properly before you put it near your skin!
And as for the story itās alright, I just remember it every time anything skin care related is discussed as itās like this mysterious horror story in our circle... as to what kind of shitty products caused a healthy woman to get hospitalised with sepsis š¶š¶ And I doubt they would be anything extremely dodgy or cheap as sheās a software engineer and both her parents and in-laws are pretty wealthy š¶
We guessed she must have been taking some pills or injections or something for sure as a cream or face wash could most likely never cause that... but still no idea what it actually was!
