Prem giving Jamaal wrong answer in Slumdog Millionaire.

Did Prem (Anil Kapoor) do that only because of his ego as he wanted only himself to be the person who made it big from the slums?

And didn't want Jamaal to share this fame with him?

Or he didn't want the show to lose such a large sum of money?

Or he had both the reasons to give Jamaal the wrong answer?

In the real show Kaun Banega Crorepati, I always see Amitabh trying his best to get the contestants win the maximum amount of money possible, by asking the contestants again and again to consider their final answer if they are about to give a wrong answer.

And if the answer is correct, he immediately locks it. So it never seems like the show makers care about losing large amount of money.

If they don't wanta contestant to win large sum of money, they do it more subtly by asking really tough questions.

So it seems like Prem gave the wrong answer because he personally didn't want Jamaal to win.

Dont think so , sometimes contestent come with no sob stories and normal stories , they are given difficult questions from start and get rid of asap

I already made that point. Some contestants are given tough questions from the start if the makers don't want to lose money, but never seen Amitabh setting a contestant to give the wrong answer.

Anil was shown to be jealous of Jamal for some reason.

Like you said, probably didnt want another rags to riches story like him.
