According to the reports, a young theatre and television actor Hasan Khan from Pakistan is all set to play Sushant Singh Rajput in a digital series to be produced by Amazon Prime Video.

So what happened to the complete embargo on all cultural exchanges with Pakistan? “It (the embargo) is very much in place,” says filmmaker Ashoke Pandit. “All trade and cultural cross-border exchange remains suspended. There is no question of an actor from across the border playing Sushant or anybody.”

Public sentiments about Sushant’s sudden death are running high. Given the tense emotions, it seems pretty much absurd to cast a Pakistani actor as Sushant.

Several questions need to be answered before any film on Sushant is attempted. Has the full story of his life and death emerged for any film to be attempted? More importantly has Sushant’s family been taken into confidence before attempting any film or series on his life? Most important of all, with political tensions running high between the two countries is it a good idea to get someone from across the border to play a beloved Indian actor?

I asked Amazon about the authenticity of the Hasan Khan’s claim. No one was willing to comment officially. Unofficially someone close to Amazon said, “It’s all in the air right now. No idea why he (Hasan Khan) tweeted about playing Sushant Singh Rajput.”

Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise has been an ongoing matter of discussion. What looked like a suicide, in the beginning, has now raised several questions over the span of two months.

Besides the intense debates and conspiracy theories making their way around Sushant’s demise, several projects have also been announced the late actor’s death case. Recently, several reports of a Pakistani actor Hasan Khan playing Sushant in Amazon Prime Video’s digital project made the rounds on the Internet.

However, Amazon India’s spokesperson has denied any such project with Hasan Khan or any other actor. The official statement issued to us by Amazon Prime Videos team reads:

Amazon Prime Video has not commissioned or licensed any project on the late Sushant Singh Rajput with actor Hasan Khan or for that matter with anyone else.

What’s surprising is that actor Hasan Khan had himself taken to his social media account to announce the project. Sharing a collage of his picture with Sushant Singh Rajput’s, he had written in his caption: “Alhamdulillah got a project which is really close to my heart, playing @sushantsinghrajput ‘s character for @primevideoin.”

However, Hasan Khan has now changed the caption and changed Amazon Prime Video’s name to ‘Indian Web.’

Really mauke pe chauka, everyone knows that right now his case is the hottest topic, why not gain something out of it? Damn them!

On other hand why a paki actor, no offense to paki friends but India has many good actors, new comers why not one among them? To gain from another controversy?

I really don't want someone to make a movie on Sushant. His whole case is a mess. Don't want someone to present something as one sided story when he isn't there to counter that.

It's better to watch Sushant's work ,his performances on TV and movies and celebrate his achievements and work than making a movie and capitalizing on it.
