but this was a tiny disclaimer posted at the start of the trailer........what about the scores of articles that screamt that it was based on Gunjan Saxena....... why are IAF and Gunjan's colleagues speaking up about it......... ??

From the time I read about Jhanvi doing it, I have been reading how its is based on Gunjan Saxena's life........ why didnt KJO or Dharma even once came out openly rubbishing those articles ??

you cannot deny that they wanted to sell it as a biopic..... maybe they knew it will break a scandal and will help the movie's BO run.......unfortunately for them, corona spilled water on their plans

people have to understand one person's experience might not be what others went through. It's fine, that's her experience and she had the guts to share it. Male egos were hurt and couldn't take it. I can see what she went through happening, it's not that hard to believe. Even the first lady who entered the army went through something similar. What's the point of lying if that's the truth?

and how do you know what she is saying is the truth when scores of other women are saying the opposite ?

See this is the reason such rubbish needs to be banned, it spreads lies about something to an extent that people claim it to the truth and those who speak up are accused as hurt male egos........

also do note, that she herself said that the climax scene never happened, neither she was given shaurya chakra by the IAF.......but she received shourya veer award from some other institution in UP......

if such a big part of the movie is untrue, then what guarantee you have for the other part that is hurting the so-called male ego, as per your view ??

No biopic film in this WHOLE WORLD can be made without taking creative liberties and commercialization. Why single out Bollywood alone? NTR biopic and Mahanati faced major controversy, so did Manju Warrier's biopic on Kamal Surayya and so did Thackeray in Marathi. You can literally list a dozen of Hollywood biopics that created controversy due to creative liberties. Why else will people come to the theatres to watch a film? Did Milkha Singh have that six pack ab wala body in real life and dance to ghulmil ghulmil launda? 😆 Yet films like BMB, Dangal are some of the most loved biopics in India. You need to add drama, you need to create fiction in order to rake in the audience who can easily watch a documentary or read the autobiography of a person if they want authenticy. And even there what's the assurance of authenticity? Harinder Sikka himself came into controversy after Raazi because his stance on Sehmat would keep changing. He promised to show the world who the real Sehmat was, the world is still waiting.

Unfortunately, one can never find out what's authentic unless it comes out of his own mouth (even there there's no assurance of authenticity due to scope of fabrication). Every film or work of art is fiction where the writer takes up some of the most interesting parts of the person's chapter and writes a screenplay around it engaging enough for the audience to sit through two hours of the film in a theatre. So pretty unfair to single out just Bollywood when the whole world does it.

So acc to all those coming out of the woodwork to criticize GS (and acc to some posters on IF), the Indian Air force was a progressive paradise in the 90s? Preternaturally woke?

And it is somehow antinational to point out problems existed/exist, and humans succeed in spite of them?

All right. India is Utopia. Always has been.

Why can't the same question be posed to Sreevidya Rajan or Namrita Chandi? Why should the onus lie only on the makers who have rightfully bought the rights and would want the world to see things at the right time and right place? No one talks about a film until it's first trailer is launched to build curiosity. That's the basic of any marketing campaign of any cinematic work. Why will they lose free ka publicity?

Yes because biopics are fictitious and dramatized version of an actual person.

Creative liberties like asking or dance or body building is tolerable as it does not tarnish anyone's else image in the process.

But creative liberties taken which maligns the image of another to glorify the main protagonist or make their efforts and triumph look even more better is unfair.

Be it Dangal , Neerja or Gunjan.

IAF says it does not approve the way it was shown, then it must be taken into account, the fellow women officers saying that it was not how it was shown in the movie must be taken into account.

If Gunjan is right then so are these.

The makers should be taken to task.

but they are talking now and rubbishing the movie....

the makers have the onus cause they are privy to the script and the way they are portraying the characters and IAF in their movie..... how can any outsider claim before the movie releases, that whatever they are planning to show, is not true.......

marketing campaign and all is fine.......but peddling a lie is NOT, esp when your intention is to hurt one of the most sacred institution of the country.........esp in times like now there are countries sitting out there waiting to publish articles to insult our defence forces...... what they need in such times is complete trust and respect of our citizen, but instead what this movie is doing ? Showing things that insult our IAF....... this wouldve been fine had it been true.......but its not, and thats why is WRONG of the makers to do so...........either they shouldve promoted it as a fiction from the start or they shouldve stuck to the truth and made it into the grey area......neither black nor white.......

free ka publicity, business is all right......but there is something called morals.......and gratitude towards somethings that cannot be compromise............hypothetically asking, will you ever go and bash the doctor who saved you through a life-threatening disease ?? no, we will never do that....we will forever be grateful, even if the doctor charged money, he used his skills to save us...........same way the armed forces are sacrificing their lives to safeguard our lives and our freedom....... so its the duty of our citizen to not malign their sacrifices............ talk about sour grapes all you want, but remember all grapes are not sour........few are sweet too......

To show IAF officers as some kind of bullies, hooligans, roadside Romeo's , is it not an attempt to malign a prestigious institution such as IAF just coz you want to add masala and glorify Gunjan Saxena's achievements in the movie???

showcase it as fiction but when you say it's a biopic and tarnish the image if an institution in the process then call it creative liberty. Objections will be raised.

I am not even started on Sreevidya Rajan.

This is another part that was unfair.

Ok let me rephrase it.. Commercialization in Movies.. Or n even wider scale.. Entertainment business.. But the point remains the same.

The person and the story become known to the public.. Giving inspiration to many.. But leaves behind a sour taste for few people.
