Barkha's justification for the interview is that the psychologist broke confidentiality laws to save Rhea's life, who she assumes is also under tremendous mental pressure and might do something to herself.
So you break a law on the basis of an assumption, that it might help save another person's life?
Personally speaking, the mudslinging on Rhea is despicable. No doubts about it. But that does not justify a mental health professional breaking the most basic code of professional and ethical conduct. How does her statement that Sushant had Bipolar Disorder help save Rhea? It would only help if she says this in a court of law, with documents to prove it. But by speaking out in the media, you too are becoming part of the same circus that you intend to stop.
Someone raised an interesting point. Does patient confidentiality end with the person's death? No, it does not. The ones who sign off the death certificate (in this case, Sushant's father or someone from his family) are the ones who can give consent to the therapist to speak about the person's diagnosis or illness. The therapist is in trouble, I think. Already, a report has been filed against her. Dunno what made her talk about such a thing in public!
