So, I just watched Manmarziyan(2018). Old wine in a new bottle, and just another addition to numerous triangular love stories in BW. But what stood out for me are the performances, the technicalities, and the music. Overall, a must-watch!

Performances --

Taapsee Pannu was spectacular with the way she shines effortlessly in her role. Rumi’s confusion, her desperation, her maturity, naivety, risks that she takes, her guilt, her unashamed behaviour -- are all etched out with precision. She carries the film strongly on her shoulders, living every inch of her character. She proves with finesse what a fine actor she is.

Vicky Kaushal. He’s so good that you can’t take your eyes off him. Even during the parts where he calls for your aversion towards him, he’s so believable that you end up falling for him. He makes his character so relatable that you even start seeing people around you similar to him. Take a bow Kaushal.

Abhishek plays his winsome role with detailing and aplomb. He manages to steal your heart with his charming portrayal of a well-rooted character. I would say he's the surprise package of the film.

Technicalities --

Kashyap, he never goes wrong with his technicalities.

Music and background score by Amit Trivedi is fantastic. The film contains many songs, and mind you the songs here need to be watched and not listened only. They add concrete substance to the plot and serve their purpose very aptly. Also, the lyrics by Shellee are just right in sync with the story and screenplay. What fine blend of story, screenplay, music, and lyrics !

Overall, I liked it, especially the first half.

What would be your review and thoughts on it, if you have watched it?

Beautiful & realistic.

This is the 2nd time Anurag Kashyap has remade something that SLB earlier made....the first one being DEV D and he keeps proving every time how overrated SLB is. Emotions which are supposed to be SLB's strength is really just loud melodrama. SLB should take classes from Kashyap on how to handle real human emotions.

Perfomances by the ensemble caste were BRILLIANT. Taapsee makes Aishwariya look like an amateur. Vicky K's talent shines as always. AB Jr is solid. Music was melodious but could be too eccentric for everyone's taste. "Daryaa" stands out.

A great work of art that should've done a lot better at the BO than it did. But it seems to have a growing but rather niche following. A film that will stand the test of time. One of my favorite films from the past few years.
