Loved it.

And that is where Vidya's self-assuredness comes from.

A line he said resonated with me coz that is what my parents say for me: 'We have faith/confidence in her'. One must have that confidence in their kids. I feel immensely proud of 'them' when they say that for me.

I am from Kerala and even in my family there has never been gender discrimination. I can say this for my immediate family and relatives, I have never seen anyone hoping/praying for a male child. I wish more and more people get out of this mindset and treat their children equally.

Overwhelming and relatable. This man is so my Papa. Those tears in his eyes and how my father cried few days ago just made me emotional. Yes the real men are the ones who does cry, feels vulnerable and never discriminates❤️.

Even my parents gets questioned a lot on having only one daughter and no son. As a teenager I encountered an aunt of my father who cried because according to her my father is a poor unfortunate lad who doesn't have a son 😂 and I remember my parents telling her off in certain harsh words.

That we've faith in our daughter is what my parents tells all the time.

Okay now I'm running to hug my father.

His widowed mother’s pic at 0:48 - her head shaved and wearing that saree as it was the custom among the upper caste

Such was the treatment of widows and women in India

We certainly have come a long way

Yup. My grandma's aunt was married at 15, widowed at 17 and no children. She stayed a widow, white saree and died at 86 a widow. She was not allowed to come to weddings or auspicious events and had to stand in the back at family functions because she was considered "unlucky". Different days. My niece on the other hand is divorced at 25 and already has a new boyfriend! She only wore a saree on her wedding day and that is after so much coaching !

I always liked vidya Balan-brilliant but unassuming actor.
