CUPIDâS LITTLE ARROW
PREMEERSS
Part-11
Unknown Feelings
Prem bent down to Tanuâs height and kissed her forehead. âYou literally scared me, you knowâ?
âYou shouted on me so I thought you didnât love me like they sayâ, Tanu replied which sounded to Prem almost like whispers.
âNo, they are wrong. I love you like your parents used to doâ.
âI know. Miss Heer told meâ, replied Tanu with smile.
âOh, so anything Miss Heer tells you will believe and not me?â Prem asked with mock anger.
Tanu laughed and said, âYou are just like my mom. And I will believe you I promise but you have to do friendship with Miss Heer. She said friends fight with each other and then patch up. You both are friends, right?â
âPromise, now will you promise me something? Can we be friends?â
Tanu shook her hands with Prem with continuously smiling just like the old days.

Heer came out of the room to give a little space to the uncle and his niece. She knew Prem was a good person. I mean now-a-days who would be so kind to treat their sister or brotherâs child with so much love and care when the child had already lost its parents even whose own grandmother had abandoned it. So she just sat on the sofa in the hall and remembered her childhood days.
She didnât remember much until 8 or 9. She saw the same loneliness in Tanuâs eyes which she used to feel when she was a kid.But after Indrajit uncle and Bharti aunty arrived in her life she began to live her live. They had never made her feel alone just like Prem never made Tanu feel alone. But what about Prem? Heer could read aloofness in his eyes too and thatâs what made them similar. She was lost in her thoughts when she heard some footsteps and saw Prem and Tanu were descending the stairs with smiles on their faces.
âSeems some people have sorted out things, isnât it?â Prem heard Heer asking looking truly happy for them. Prem gave his gratitude with his smiling eyes and amazingly Heer understood it.
âSo little kid, do you wanna eat ice cream?â Manmeet asked.
âYesâ, Tanu literally screamed and went with Manmeet to the kitchen but before that Manmeet whispered to Premâs ear, âI think you need to talk to my sister about something. Go ahead. Thereâs none to disturb you twoâ, and left the place winking at Prem.
Heer was thinking how to start a conversation with Prem as they were now alone in the hall but she heard Prem apologizing âMiss Heer, I am really sorry for my behaviour that day. I didnât mean to be so rude. I just couldnât control myâŠ.â
He was cut in by Heer, ââŠpain. I know Mr. Juneja and itâs absolutely alright. You donât need to be apologizing. In fact I should be the one saying sorryâ.
Prem smiled. âSo, I guess we both are equal now and that means you are coming to our home from tomorrow?â
âNo Mr. Juneja, I wonât comeâ.
Prem was literally shocked at Heerâs answer. Hadnât she forgiven him yet? âBut you forgave me, didnât you?â
âNo, no, this isnât about forgiving you. I wonât come to your house thatâs because I donât need toâ. Sensing the confusion in Premâs eyes, she continued, âMr.J uneja, I went there to counsel Tanu and my work is over. Tanu is really alright. You just have to be a little careful that she never feels alone.Otherwise everythingâs fineâ.
âBut she wonât listen to me if you wonât comeâ.
âShe will. I will talk to her. Mr. Juneja we canât go to peopleâs house just because itâs their wish. We go to peopleâs house when they need us.Besides, I have already taken a job in Dr. Khuranaâs hospital, in the child care unit. SoâŠâ
Prem was disappointed. He never thought he would never going to see her again. He was about to leave the place when suddenly he turn around and stood exactly in front of Heer.
âCanât it be true what youâve told Tanuâ?
âWhat?â
âDo you remember the first day you visited our house you told Tanu that youâre my friend and even some time ago you told her that friends say sorry to each other and become friends again. So can we be friends?â Prem extended his hands.
âMr. Juneja, I donât need a friend as I already haveâ, Heer tried to drop the subject.
âMay be I need. May be I need someone to share my problems with. May be I need someone to laugh with. May be I need a friend. Can we?â Prem uttered staring at Heer deeply. Heer didnât know when her hands touched Premâs and her eyes touched Premâs soul. It was not that she did it purposely. There was something in his eyes which she can relate with. He truly needed someone.
They didnât know how long they were standing there and staring into each otherâs eyes. Their small eye conversation was broken by a clapping sound. They came out of their reverie and saw Manmeet standing there with Tanu on his lap.
âWoah woah woah! Prem Juneja becomes friends with a girl and that too with my sister. It should be breaking newsâ, he joked to only get an immediate glare from Prem.
âOkay, okay, wrong timingâ, Manmeet surrendered.
âI guess you guys have already sorted out things between yourselves. So why donât we just eat something. Itâs past launch timeâ, they heard Ashlesha talking to them while setting the table. Prem was about to deny but seeing Tanuâs excitement he agreed.
*******************************
âWhy did you stop me telling him about Rishabh?â Manmeet asked Heer as they sat for their afternoon tea.
âBecause I didnât want him to know and before you start âcome on, be braveâ or something like that, let me tell you that I am not afraid. I just donât want to disclose our personal matter to someone strangerâ, Heer reasoned.
âYou just considered him as a friend a few hours ago Heer. How can you say like that? Besides as far as Prem is concerned, he isnât like other peopleâ. Manmeet was visibly angry on her.
âYouâre taking me wrong Manu. I donât think of him like other people. I just donât want to involve him. However, he already has problems in his life. So why one more?â
âI think she is right, Manmeetâ. Ashlesha uttered but knowing that Manmeet wouldnât take it nicely she continued, âBut Heer if you really consider him as friend then tell himâŠnot now but after some timeâ.
âBut I donât understand why should I tell anyone to what happened? I mean itâs not so important,â Heer was adamant not to tell him.
âBecause I think he likes youâ, Manmeet sounded confident.
âWhat? Manu, are you mad? How can you even think like that?â Heer couldnât suppress her anger.
âWhy Heer, Whatâs the problem in it?â This time Ashlesha couldnât hold back her wish.
âBecause Ash, he nearly hated me some time ago. I agree that now we are friends but that doesnât mean that you both start thinking of something else. So please stop running the horses of your imaginary mind and give me a breakâ. Heer made her stand clear and almost stormed out of the room.
âItâs going to be difficultâ. Manmeet sighed thinking of Heer and Prem.
