A movie with both heart and soul, and some terrific performances. I consider this movie an underrated gem in Indian cinema, and I guess very few people have watched it. I was in college first year when it released, and none of my friends were interested in going to the theatre to watch it. But I caught it later on TV, and I LOVED it. I caught it again recently, and the film's charm is intact.
What is noteworthy is that the film depicts a social issue without being preachy or sermonising about it. The theme is interwoven with the love story which is both subtle and poignant, and the main protagonist is shown as a resilient yet vulnerable figure.
The performances are top-notch. I think it is Salman Khan's best performance till date. He underplays, no swagger, no heroism, just a quiet, haunting quality. Shilpa is just fantastic as the film revolves around her, and she has taken her acting to the next level. Abhishek shines in a brief role.
Has anyone watched it?
