I think a lot of people running around defending nepotism is missing the point. They're not just launching their nanas and chachas. They are in cahoots with each other and boycotting outside talent to maintain their hold in the industry, come what may.
One's nepotism that exists everywhere and still the moral lines are debatable there. The other is criminal bullying that can lead to disastrous consequences as we have witnessed.
I think they know but they are using whataboutisms to derail the discussion.. specially ridic arguments about parents spending money to send their kids to best schools.. that is NOT nepotism
also then saying its their money their choice.. yes invest your own money and make a movie then let the audience decide...who even complains about this?
but the problem in Bollywood is that certain people have hijacked the industry and any related fields, they are using money for the media to push through a narrative... huge stars are offering their stardom and money/clout etc to get their kids magazine covers... then publish articles about how famous they are and how their community college drama theatre performance is deserving of Tony award..
stage fake auditions and then proclaim their mediocre children were deserving winners and then have their friends and other members of the fraternity over hype them as Thespians..
they are working with PR to create an image about outsider female actors as some promiscuous ones who would sleep with anyone to move ahead.. etc etc the list is endless with unethical/immoral and downright illegal behaviour..
Bollywood does not belong to these small groups, these defenders of nepotism are a part of the reason mediocrity is the norm.. a country of over billion people and the move industry can't make decent products?
