All these were heavily advertised. These are just a few. Some movies are not even released in Mumbai and Pune due to lack of distributor confidence. The help from govt is not sufficient to cover the costs.

I have already pointed out average budget of a good Marathi movie with a solo star is 1- 1.5 crores .

They recover chunk of their money in first weekend(Fri--Sat-Sun) itself while they profit in second weekend.

Most of such relatively bigger movies with stars do stay in theaters for atleast 2 weeks😎.

For smaller movies the budget might go down to 50-75 lakhs😛. With government chipping in with 25 lakhs all they have to do is recover about 50 lakhs which is not a big deal.

I don't know about Lucky but ye re ye re paisa was a superhit 👍🏼.

Movies like Kachcha Limbu rarely succeed at BO, they are award films😆

Abhinay Berde is not a star his solo movies are bound to flop😉.

Distributor confidence has nothing to do with a movie not getting screens, it is about availability of screens for smaller movies. For eg Rinku Rajguru's Makeup gobbled up all the screens for Marathi movies in urban area while other smaller movies of that week were released in like 20-22 screens. Yet Makeup flopped because Rinku Rajguru is not a star😛.

I think this lockdown in Mumbai was a joke. No wonder the cases have been shooting up. in our society I have seen some young couples go out in the car for an hour or so EVERYDAY. It is not as if they were going out for essential work because they never had any bags with them. People on the top floors would go to the terrace and play cricket. Our local corporator would announce everyday that drones were being used to monitor these societies but apparently no action has been taken. The building facing our building has been declared a containment area but there is absolutely no monitoring of the place about who goes in or comes out. So it is more likely that the authorities are fed up and would give up the pretense of a lockdown and allow free movement. At least then they will be able to justify the large number of cases (which could go up further after the lockdown is lifted).

He is neither a star nor even an average actor (so too Amey Wagh). So even his Godfathers (Sachin, Ashok, Zee) can't turn him into a successful hero.

Just saw AB ani CD on Prime. Enjoyed it. It is a sweet and lovely feelgood movie. Vikram Gokhale towers over everyone else. A movie with a message about old age but not "in your face".

@bhetupunha - like you said before you thought ELTG was much better than ELDG and I disagreed . Later we gave up debating on that likewise we will leave it here. But we continue to stick to our points. I continue to believe Marathi films hardly do commercially sound business.

Interesting discussion about the state of affairs of Marathi Cinema.

It is true that for a film to become a success stardom is needed but stars like Subodh Bhave nd Swapnil Joshi should chose good scripts, else their stardom will fade away.

Except Sairat I don't remember any other film in recent times that did well at Box-office only because of it's content.

Sairat hit zhala,, but the careers of the leads never took off.. it was the story and songs that were Heroes...

Anyways I live in Australia and here they r now easing the restrictions, with upto 10 people in restaurants , schools reopening with a certain amount of children attending a given day at school..

Earlier they started with quaranting travellers in hotels and imposing strict fines of 1000$ and a detention ranging from 6 months to one year on people loitering out of their houses...

International travel seems to be a major hindrance now, with the social distancing norms, it will not be economically viable for the airlines to fly with limited people..

My father in law is visiting us from Mumbai ..he wants to go back now,but the tickets are three times the normal value..he is 73 and running out of medicines..guess life will not be normal until the end of this year..

but in any case your f-i-l cannot come home unless they start flights. Both international as well as domestic flights are totally closed indefinitely.

first of all who had permitted normal or ola or uber to run in delhi and if still they r running ,how can they charge so much amt and why people r giving so much mount.in delhi cases r increasing then why taxies r allowed.

There are some special fights allowed to bring back Indians stranded abroad. Many flights arrived from gulf to Kerala. Also few flights arrived in Mumbai from London and US. I am not sure if any flights from Australia still.
