Most of the regional movies are subsidised by govt to keep it viable commercially. It has limited audience obviously. So cannot compare to hindi movie industry. Ofcourse south indian industry though regional is different story. The budget is even greater than hindi, dont know how unless south indian population is greater than rest of india. I watched few south indian movies on netflix with english subtitles n saw lot of marathi n hindi actors doin character roles, recently watched allu arjuns movie n his grandpa was sachin khedekar.

I must say though i dont understand the language lot of them r very entertaining n quite high budget. I like dulquar salmans movies.

Marathi actors are very talented but we dont hv budget or good stories. Being marathi let me say this its very hard to imagine marathi manus to look rowdy like southies or hindi actors.

I personally enjoy marathi stage or tv shows like eldg which mostly depicts marathi middle class life which most of our people can relate to.

Just to put it in perspective, I went thru some of the internet reports and it appears that mpm3 had first week box office collections of Rs. 15 crores and it must have grown after that. So, I guess they would have ended up at around 17-18 crores. I do not find any website which gives offical stats for box office collections.

But, if this number of 17-18 crores is true, then it should definietly be a hit as I do not think it's budget would be more than 10-12 crores at most.

same case with man fakira.it was before lockdiwn.when i went for d show ,literally 10 or 12 lok hote.actually that movie etka vait navhata bt still no audiance.

It was a good initiative on the part of Maharashtra government to make it compulsory for multiplexes to keep Marathi shows ...through word of mouth, non Marathi audience are also flocking the theatres to watch good Marathi movies ...

@Mishkil,, MPM franchise is not a story , it's a journey of a couple which started 10 years back..Rajwade , Swapnil, Mukta have emphasized in their interviews that it is on audience demand that they are running this franchise..

Being a hopelessly romantic, I enjoy watching such light hearted, stress free ..rom coms,,ani mala Subodh Bhave ani tyachya movies jaam bore wattat..Hrudayantar Mukta mulech pahila !!

Ayushmann Khurana n Amitabh Bachchan's movie is getting released on prime on 12th June... New trend is starting..

I do not think those collections nos would be wrong. It is not on social media but on other sites which regularly report box office collection statastics.

When I went for MPM3 in the first week, the theater was at least 75% full.

You cannot compare with Hindi but I guess apart from Mumbai, Pune they tend to do well better in smaller cities like Kolhapur, Solapur etc. Then they also get something from TV realease and also OTT release. Also subsidy from governement.

I think majority of marathi movies would be making at least small profits. The number of Marathi movies made have increased a lot in last 2 years. That would not happen if majority of them are making losses.

i never compare hindi movies with marathi.ti tulana houch shakat nahi as finacially hindi industry is much much richer than marathi.

he also said ki jevadya premane marathi audiance natak baaghyala jato tevady premane to theatetmadhe yet nahi.

so many national award winning pictures like kasav,astu kadhi ani kaiti screens madhe release zale.kalahi nahi

pan ekahi marathi picture cha sadha ullekhahi nahi.

even subodh had hilightened tbis point much before ki apan fakta post publicitu karato kahi certain historical filmz sodalya ,tar kuthala picture kadhi yenar ahe he tya picture chya adji 1 or 2 werks kalat.ha scenario.hi chanhe vhayala hava.

@bhetupunha I still do not agree that most Marathi movies recover money. Sanjay jadhav admitted 2 flops lucky & ye re ye re Paisa. Prasad oak admitted before hirkani his previous ventures were failures like kachha limbu, etc. Sachin pilgaonkar gave 2 flops ekulti ek and ashi hi aashiki. Ravi jadhav's rampat was flop. All these were heavily advertised. These are just a few. Some movies are not even released in Mumbai and Pune due to lack of distributor confidence. The help from govt is not sufficient to cover the costs.

As expected,lockdown may get extended to 31st may just now mahavikas aghadi meeting is over.bt still they r going to start some business.evwn in pune also they r planning to start except hotspot areas.its risky.i m not getting d calculation of 15 days extension.he asach rahil tar 31st dec paryant lockdown karava lagel.

and basically lockdown cha kahihi use hotach nahi ahe.sagalikade aramat lok firat ahet.my sister was telling that in pune ,pimpari chinchavad,although no of patients increasing,lok rastyavar gardi karat ahet.dharavit tar lok ekatach nahit ashi ekal.even there is a lot of crowd in bank also.

The purpose of making Marathi movies are different... Some movies are made to get subsidy from government.. therefore there is lot of crop of making low budget movies which doesn't even stay in theatre for a week or don't even get released

I guess a week to 10 days is more than enough for small films to recover their investments and make profits😎. That is why more number of smaller films are made in Marathi 🤡
