I anyways go for movies only when a film is really, really good. More importantly, there is no movie coming up in the next 1 year that I am 'dying' (quite literally) to watch. Movie hall jana is not on my post-lockdown priority list at all. And that's OK, to each their own.

In these 60 days of lockdown, I have missed doing a lot of things, but not one day have I spent thinking 'Yaar movie hall jaane ka mann kar raha hai'.

What I will be doing though is having a lot of house parties, sleepovers, and visiting all those whose presence I took for granted. Coz that is what I have missed in these months. Also, as mean as it sounds, I am totally gonna enjoying the fact that my maid is back. I have forgotten how it feels to not do jhadu, pocha, and bartan.😭

And I promise to enjoy going to work at least for the first 3 months post lockdown😆

Actors and Exhibitors are crying who are not bearing losses but the producers are bearing the loss. Obviously the movie won't each much via OTT platforms but something better than nothing. People may or may not go to theaters but whether these movies will be successful or not is what matters. Movies that released just a week or 2 weeks before the lockdown also failed.

30 crore is a good deal. It means making 60 crore at the box office. The director isn't known for making BO blockbusters. His biggest film Piku made 78 crore. His other films like October, Madras Cafe aren't big grossers. So it's a decent deal considering nobody knows whether the film will be a hit or not.

Those who oppose this, no one knows when theatres will open, and even if they open, thanks to social distancing norms, they will never be able to fill theatres. Not to mention, a lot of movies will suddenly be fighting for release dates since no movies released for months. So most Fridays will see multiple releases. The film doesn't have any BO heavy weights either. Under such uncertain conditions, it would be a wonder if this film makes 60 crore at BO.

Of course exhibitors are worried because if big films start releasing like this on streaming platforms, more and more people will get used to watching films at home, thus driving away their footfalls, their source of income.

If I were an exhibitor I would be thinking about exiting the business. Either that, or you do something really innovative. Otherwise you are going to be bankrupt sooner orlater.

Agar tumhe itni baat samaj nahi aati ki: one scenario involves mingling with a set of people you know and who take proper precautions (and that too once things get back to normal), while the other involves sitting in a movie hall and jostling for arm space with strangers then I cannot help you. 🤪

Oh and also coming in contact with n number of people while going to the mall or in the mall.

Actually leave it, tumhe nahi samaj aayega.

I feel like I just told someone I have a fear of flying and they said: you shouldn't get out of the house coz accidents to road and rail se bhi hote hai, or maybe some vehicle will run you over while you are walking.😆

Exactly. And everyone I know loves watching movies in theatres. Esp. where I live, in Delhi NCR, people look fwd to movies releasing in theatres for weeks. OTT is no substitute, and can never be.
