if big film se clash happen to screen bhi nh dege yeh gulabo sitabo ko 😆
Ankur Pathak tweeted the following:
From what one hears the theatre owners vs producers battle is only gonna escalate with more announcements coming tomo. We all know of multiplex bullying so ofc smaller/mid level films will go to streaming + producers need money right NOW to offset costs of existing sets (1/2)
But the bigger Qs is that there has been no relief/exemption from the govt coming their way. Even daily wagers compensated by producers. I hope the industry takes a long hard look at how a govt that’s first to beg for selfies and tweets actually cares very little abt them
Year after year the industry allows its tremendous soft power to be exploited for political gains by a govt which gives them, like nothing in return? Other than token promises and perhaps an illusion of safety from the next fringe group’s attack on the cinema halls. Demand more.
Himesh Mankad the following:
The statement by INOX has sparked debate within the industry. A veteran producer tells me, did the multiplex associations take our plea in account when it came to VPF, faster clearance of dues, lesser intermission time, share of profit in FnB sales, higher producer share...
Continued.. All through the years, we have been on backfoot. And now is the time for us to do what's the best for our product, and it's absolutely a business decision, to pay our employees and get going. Valid point.
Multiplex owners on the otherhand explain their slate citing example of higher rent for properties in metros, low footfalls, staff expenses, light and electricity bill-which puts them in a position to charge for different components. The only way for them to survive. Valid point
And in this fight between multiplex and producers, its the single screen owners who are suffering the most. Their business has come to a complete stand still, and their business structure was devoid of several multiplex income modules.
So in this battle, who is right? Who is wrong? Taking business, ethical and emotional factors in account. Will the two parties reach a common ground soon? #MultiplexVsProducers

Sorry unable to get the handle copied
Film will flop anyway 🤣
It's a no-win situation but expecting that producers will wait to release their films later, endure rising costs only to release with clashes, lose screens due to clash in addition to seats due to physical distancing, and in turn lose more revenue only so the status quo remains and helps exhibitors is silly. The producers also have to pay those who work on the film.
Can the exhibitors/multiplexes guarantee that they will give screens fairly even to "smaller films"? Wil they share more profits for films waiting?
The need of the hour is for some films to come direct to OTT. The big ones that can afford to wait shall. They're anyways movies that will get priority shows in comparison. I know Ayushman is popular and it's likely that his movie would have fetched good numbers but it's obvious what would be preferred if it was clashing with Suryavanshi.

What's so wrong if the producers are willing to release their small budget movies on OTT platform. If they are getting a good price then what's the harm. Are ppl that daft to not understand that cinema is the last thing ppl have in their mind in the current situation. Atleast in 2020.
Even after the situation normalizes , ppl won't risk themselves just for a damn movie. Small budget movies to koi dekhne jayga BHI Nahi.
theatres are afraid this will set a precedent. once movies start releasing in ott theatres will go jobless and its a multi million dollar business. its a quandary.
Just read Vidya Balan's 'Shakuntala Devi' will premiere on Prime.
Nawaz's 'Ghoomketu' is gonna be on Zee5. Is that a film?
