Chapter 24 – The Final Proposal

Prerna came to her room and was packing her stuff hastily while crying all the while.

“Aap theek hain?”

“Kyun rona allowed nahin hain mujhe?”

“Prern aaap kya bol rahin hain? Kuch hua hain kya?”

“Machine hoon na main, Katpulti hoon, doll kukki ko pasand aa gayi to ghar le aaye ab Kukki ne bol diya chod do to chod denge mujhe.”

Rishab was shocked to hear this.

“Kukki ne bataya mujhe”

And then she grabbed him by his shirt

“meri galti hain ki Apna sab kuch maan liya hain maine apko. Mujhe pata hain maine hi aapse kaha tha ki main Anurag se par par meri bhi samajh main nahin aaya kya hua ki kaise aap sab kuch ban gaye mere. Aapke bina jeene ke bare main soch kar takleef ho rahin hain saas nahin aa rahin mujhe. Kyun agar yahin karna tha to kyun kyun mujhe Is haal main le aaye aap mujhe.”

Rishab couldn’t believe what he was hearing and whether to be happy or sad.

“Par aapki galti nahin hain main hi ek ghatiya ladki hoon kabhi kisi ke saath kabhi kisi aur ke jiska jo man karta hain bana dete hain mujhe. Ek ne Katputli bana diya aur doosre ne bol diya ki maine paise ke liye aapke saath”

“What?”

Rishab was surprised and didn’t know what to do.

“Prerna”and he tried to touch her.

“Don’t you dare don’t you dare.Get out I said Get out right now” and she closed the door and after sometime Mr Bajaj heard a cry and wished that he could kill Anurag then and there.

Prerna woke up next morning and she found Mr bajaj gift on the dressing table She found that Mr Bajaj was gone. Kukki had already left for school. Around mid afternoon Mr moloy Basu came to meet her.

“kaka babu aap?Aap yahan kyun aaye mujhe bula liya hota”

“Tu aati ab basu badi main”

“Aap bol sakte hain”

“Kaka babu mai”

“Rishab aaya tha aaj milne. Usne sab kuch bataya mujhe. I am sorry I am sorry for whatever Mohini did. Usne Anurag ko bhi sab kuch bata diya hain. Yeh alag baat hain ki Anurag ki aankhon main is waqt pati bandhi hain who kuch nahin dekhna chahta”

“Mujhse koi farak nahin padta kaka babu it doesn’t matter anymore.”

“I am sorry main tere liye kuch nahin kar paya. Tune hamare parivaar ke liye itnakuch kiya phir bhi main kuch nahin kar paya.”

“Please Kaka Babu aapne bahut kuch kiya hain mere liye already”

“Mainhoon tere saath hamesha. Khush rehna”

He left after sometime. Prerna was packing her bags when she found the gift Mr.bajaj had given her. She found the letter and his mothers ring.

Prerna read and re read what he had written and there were tears of joy in her eyes.She didn’t know whether to laugh or be angry at him. The love the warmth the pain in this letter tore her heart. Even after thinking that I might go back toAnurag once he finds out the child truth he went and cleared her name. I said so many things to him and he didn’t say anything and that is when she made a decision. Mr bajaj came home that night and found Prerna wearing the same saree that shehad when he had proposed his deal for the first time.

“Please have a seat”

“Prerna kya kar rahi hoon tum”

“Mrbajaj yeh mera ghar hain aur yahan ke rules main likhti hoon.”

“Aapko kal raat ko misunderstanding hui thi please let me clarify”

“Seedhi seedhi deal karne main ab koi mazaa nahin hain. Mere pass apke liye ek proposal hain”

Aapne mujhse us din pucha thana ki yeh ghar kiski choice hain aur maine kuch nahin kaha. Yeh ghar aapki choice hain Prerna aapka sapna tha jo apne kukki ko bataya tha. Mujhe to ghar ka matlab nahin malum family ka matlab nahin malum to main kaha se.

Then he took her face in his hands and touched his forehead to her forehead.

Yeh ring meri puri life define karti hain aur ab main yeh aap ko dena chahta hoon kyunki ab aap mujhe define karti hain. Badle main wada karta hoonki zindagi bhar aapka saath nibhaonga, apko kabhi nahin datunga, aapki baat chup chap sunuga, no drinks at home, aapki beti ke samne koi tamasha nahin karunga kabhi bhi.

And they both laughed between tears and there was no need for the last paragraph.

Par main yeh bhi jaanta hoon ki shayad aapki Khushi kisi aur ke saath hain to aapko papers bhi de raha hoon. Agar aap yeh choose karti hain to promise karta hoon apki life main kabhi mod kar nahin aaonga aapse koi sawaal nahin karunga kabhi bhi nahin. I promise, aur wish karunga ki who aapko hamesha khush rakhe.

“Main jee sakungi aapke bina. Agli baar aise baat mat kijiyega yeh jaan meri hain.Suna aapne. Mr Rishab Bajaj you might go and own the world”

“but you Prerna Sharma Bajaj you you own me Remember that” – and he kissed her and hugged her.

He was about to continue with this when Prerna stopped him

“Our deal is not done yet”

“Excuse me”

“Apne mujhe deal sunaiye hain. Meri terms abhi baki hain”

“Really”

“Really”

“Mujhe manzoor hain kuch bhi kuch bhi I don’t care, chahe who kuch bhi hoon I don’tcare”

“Deal suni bhi nahin Manzoor Karli those are not signs of a good businessman”

“Fine boliye”

“meri demand hain ki mujhe pane ke liye mujhe chodna hoga.”

“What?”

“Matlab yeh ki is aapko sabke samne mujhe phir se meri maa ki permission ke saath Mrsbajaj banana hoga aur is ghar main laga hoga”

“I am not doing this”

“Okay to main chalti hoon”

“Fine”

“any other specifications – Woh ghar mere maa-baba ka hain jab tak is ghar se bidaai nahin hogi lagega nahin ki un dono ne aashirwaad diya. Sirf meri family aur hamara saath.” and with that she started kissing him while they could hear crackers in the sky as if the whole world was celebrating them.

Mrbajaj didn’t wait a day to fulfill his deal as asked. He although bluntly asked Veena Maa that she wants to marry her daughter and while he was asking he had started bringing in people to start preparations. The Sharmas were stunned as what to do. Prerna started thinking maybe it was a wrong idea.

But just then Kukki came into the room with the shagun and went to Veena Sharma.She was surprised.

“I know ki is beti ko khush karne ke liye aapki beti ka dil dukkha hain lekin agar koi problem na hoon can you give me the right to call myself Kukki Sharma Bajaj?” and she nodded.

Rishab smirked and looked at Prerna as if asking “nailed it Didn’t I” and prerna signalled – “my daughter”

It was the day of marriage. The whole family with tears in their eyes finished the rituals and Prerna got the deal she wanted. Kukki welcomed her into the house.Prerna was standing on the window in her room waiting when Mr Bajaj came.

“Ek Baat puchu aapse”

“Hmm”

“Us din Mamooni ki chat pe kya puchnewale the aap”

Mrbajaj went very near Prerna just like they were standing on that day and then he got a bit closer when they was no distance between them and he moved her lips to the forehead -

“May I?”

And just like that he kissed her. Exactly after 5 months Prerna gave birth to a beautiful daughter – Sneha. Rishab added one more diamond to the ring on Prerna finger and was waiting to add many more to it.

Prerna still had difficulty grasping things sometimes. In one moment he would become the loving father to Sneha and kukki and next moment when she would see him with a compitetor or someone trying to hurt them she would get scared. He didn’t openly show that he helped but Prerna did notice when there would be a problem with Sharma family but miraculously it would get sorted in some days,infact even her family now understood the man she loved and why she loved him.Prerna had opened an event management company which was registered by the name Prerna Sharma and Rishab sometimes felt a pang of jealousy when some people considered her just as amazing a businessperson as him.

"They say that that the best of relationship are the ones where they make you a better person and bring you out of your worst nightmares. Prerna brought Rishab out of his biggest nightmare of revenge of betrayal, brought him to love and Rishab taught Prerna what it means to respect yourself."
