It’s not brainwashing. Most first responders ARE men - that’s a fact and they deserve to be appreciated and glorified for the work they do. If there are a small number of women who are first responders that’s awesome but why are we ONLY appreciating them? My point is ALL frontline workers need to be appreciate. Regardless of gender. This is not the time to discuss gender or imaginary issues. Priyanka is totally wrong here.

So just cuz a first responder is a man we cant appreciate him because of some losers have misogynistic backward views? How is that fair ?

Anyone who does good work gets recognition, there's no need to put anyone on a pedestal.

The real issue is putting people on the front-line, telling them to risk their lives and calling them 'heroes'. I think they'd rather be compensated fairly for their work.

I agree partly with what you say. Front line workers do need compensation more than a few easily forgotten pretty words. But everybody loves a little appreciation. So compensation + appreciation is the right way to go.

Yes I don’t regard those who require validation to be strong at all.

To me strength is silent, resilient & dignified. People who require recognition for their work (which they signed up for) hardly fit that category.

It’s not like this is the first time ever people worked in dangerous conditions. People work in dangerous conditions every day, pandemic or no pandemic.

People like sewer cleaners, mine workers, roofers, constructions workers etc. These people are not getting shoutouts nor are they asking for it. They simply do their work and go home. They embody the meaning of strength.

WTF there’s nothing wrong with people getting recognized for the work they do.

I didn’t say there was.😛 I just said that has nothing to do with being strong.

What if I started a campaign to highlight the contributions of men who are front line workers ? If I did that you will would have been thrown in jail with Ayan and Karan ready to be man handled. Woh teek hai?

Also another question - what if I don’t identify as a Gender ? Like I don’t in real life. If I was a frontline worker and I saw this kind of post it would insult and demean my contributions

It's not like we need priyanka or anyone else to necessarily highlight their good work.

I don't get it. What campaign is that even? Never heard of a campaign like this. I understand and by now, we all know they are working so hard for us day and night which is really commendable. Also, I am pretty sure more than the recognition in this situation, they would like to get some extra salary. if you wanna run headless campaign like this, Then why not just highlight who survived the covid?! Damn sure, they would like to get recognized. They fought the real battle.

Priyanka and this brand were supposed to shoot an ad campaign but due to COVID-19 they weren’t able to shoot the campaign so they’re donating the money they had set aside for it to frontline workers instead. The brand is female focused so they decided to highlight women doing exceptional work during the pandemic. So every week for 5 weeks people can nominate someone they think is deserving and they will receive $5000 each.

Not sure why people on this forum don’t want frontline workers to be recognized or rewarded. Odd!
