@shelzee: That scene was so interesting! I think Abir saw Kunal's complete lack of awkwardness around Kuhu, something he didn't have with almost anyone else. Right from the beginning, Kuhu put Kunal at ease and brought out his sarcastic sense of humour. Their back and forth worked because Kuhu wasn't over sensitive and didn't easily get hurt by anything Kunal said and Kunal enjoyed and responded to Kuhu's humour as well. It reminds me of what Noah says about Allie in the Notebook. "You tell me when I am being an arrogant son of a b*tch and I tell you when you are a pain in the ass. Which you are, 99% of the time. I'm not afraid to hurt your feelings. You have like a 2 second rebound rate, then you're back doing the next pain-in-the-ass thing." 😆
What's also telling is that when Kuhu called him Mishti's boyfriend, he responded with "what nonsense," because I think for Kunal, especially after Shweta, shaadi wasn't ever about love or feelings, it was about bringing the bahu Meenu wanted into the house. At this point, as far as he knew, that was Mishti. He just didn't want the jhanjat of love but rather a straightforward arranged marriage that would make his family happy, and he had every intention of putting in the work to make that marriage a successful one. With Kuhu, he could sense that jhanjat 😉 and he ran in the other direction to move things forward with the bahu he thought his mom wanted.
